Nashville 1975 New On Bluray

Product Description: Following 24 unique characters through 5 days in the country music capital, Robert Altman's Oscar winning epic presents a complexly textured portrayal (and critique) of America’s obsession with celebrity and power. Among the various stars, aspirants, hangers-on, observers, and media folk are politically ambitious country icon and his fragile star protégée, a self-absorbed rock star who woos a lonely married gospel singer, a talentless waitress painfully humiliated at her first singing gig, a runaway wife with dreams of stardom, and a campaign guru who is trying to organize a concert rally for an unseen presidential candidate. An essential of 70s cinema, this newly remastered Blu-ray, from a 4K film scan of the original elements, looks better than ever.

Bill Plymptons Hair High 2004 New On Bluray

Product Description: HAIR HIGH, 2004 Plymptoons, 78 min. Legendary animator Bill Plympton's (THE TUNE, MUTANT ALIENS) cheerfully unhinged and wildly hormonal tribute to 1950s teen romance opens on star quarterback Rod (voiced by Dermot Mulroney) and head cheerleader Cherri (voiced by Sarah Silverman) as the unchallenged king & queen of Echo Lake H.S.. Enter scooter-driving Spud (Eric Gilliland) as the bumbling New Kid in School, who quickly runs afoul of Rod and Cherri - but will love unexpectedly blossom between the Geek and the Prom Queen? Filled with reanimated frogs, writhing teenage tongues / tonsils / lips, deranged parodies of drive-in flicks like THE BRAINEATERS, and (of course) a sea of gravity-defying, Dr. Seuss-like hairstyles (our favorite visual gag? Rod's football helmet is shaped like his massive hairdo), this is Plympton's cheeky musical take on REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, GREASE, HAIRSPRAY and BYE BYE BIRDIE. And like the best of Plympton, it's fueled by sex and roaring libidos: the school team is the Fighting Cocks, and one of the wildest sequences involves the mascot experiencing an uncontrollable erection and humping everything in sight. "The joys of biology," as chainsmoking teacher Mr. Snerz (David Carradine) observes between (literally) hacking his lungs out. Featuring a stellar voice cast including Beverly D'Angelo, Martha Plimpton, Keith Carradine, Tom Noonan, Justin Long, and Ed Begley Jr., plus fellow animators Matt Groening and Don Hertzfeldt, with a wonderful score by longtime Plympton musical collaborators Maureen McElheron, Hank Bones and Corey Allen Jackson. And remember: today's lunch will be Sloppy Joe's and creamed corn!

Pretty Baby 1978 New On Bluray Special Edition

Product Description: Internationally acclaimed director Louis Malle (Elevator to the Gallows, Au Revoir les Enfants, Damage) has taken a taboo subject — child prostitution — and created in Pretty Baby a film of humanity and beauty. Keith Carradine (The Long Riders) is E.J. Bellocq, a photographer in 1917 obsessed with the prostitutes in New Orleans’ red-light district. Brooke Shields (The Blue Lagoon) — whose “subtlety and depth are astonishing” (Roger Ebert) — is Violet, a 12-year-old girl who bewitches Bellocq with her curiosity and naïve coquettishness. Malle’s level-headed treatment of this controversial theme, sumptuous cinematography by Sven Nykvist (Persona) and exceptional performances by the entire cast — especially Susan Sarandon (Atlantic City) as Violet’s mother — make Pretty Baby a must-see for all serious film fans. Pretty Baby was co-produced and co-written by Polly Platt (Broadcast News, Say Anything, Bottle Rocket), the iconic producer who helped launch the film careers of legendary filmmakers James L. Brooks, Cameron Crowe and Wes Anderson.
