Far Cry Tv Series Fx Noah Hawley Rob Mac

A new series based on Ubisoft's video game franchise "Far Cry" will be developed by FX. The show is co-created by Noah Hawley ("Alien: Earth", "Fargo") and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" co-creator/writer/actor Rob Mac (formerly McElhenney). Mac will also star.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it has been revealed that the series, like the games, will follow an anthology format and feature a different cast and setting each season. The show will stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.

Mac said this in a statement: "Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized. Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support."

Hawley added: "What I love about the 'Far Cry' game franchise is it's an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of 'Fargo' is a variation on a theme. To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens is a dream come true. I'm excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen".

Mac will executive produce under his More Better Productions banner, while Hawley will executive produce under his overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television via 26 Keys. Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys will also executive produce along with Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television. The series will be produced by FX Productions.

Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment had this to say about the show: "FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn't be more excited that they are teaming up for 'Far Cry'. I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property."

Mac previously collaborated with Ubisoft for the Apple TV series "Mythic Quest" which he co-created and starred in. It aired for four seasons, with Ubisoft Film & Television producing that show.

The first "Far Cry" game was released in 2004, and since then five other games have been released, as well as several spinoffs. "Far Cry 6" was the last game in the franchise, released in 2021. While this is the first live-action "Far Cry" adaptation for the small screen, there has been one particularly infamous 2008 direct-to-video adaptation directed by Uwe Boll. The less said about that one, the better. Meanwhile, Netflix released the 2023 animated series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix", which is based on the "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" expansion.

FARGO Creator Noah Hawley to Write and Direct New STAR TREK Film
"Fargo" and "Legion" creator Noah Hawley is in final talks with Paramount to write, produce, and direct a new "Star Trek" film. While many details are unknown at this point, it would seem that the new film will not be a sequel to the reboot series, and it's unclear whether Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban will reprise their roles.

However, reboot series helmer J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot production company is on board to produce the new film alongside Hawley's 26 Keys. Meanwhile, the studio is also working on a "Star Trek" spinoff which is being developed by Quentin Tarantino and Abrams, and which Tarantino is expected to direct from a script by Mark L. Smith ("The Revenant").

Hawley recently made his feature film directorial debut with the astronaut drama "Lucy in the Sky" starring Natalie Portman and Jon Hamm. He has also written "Fargo: This Is a True Story", which is a companion book to the first three seasons of the series.

Jon Hamm Picture
Natalie Portman picture
"Mad Men" and "Baby Driver" star Jon Hamm is in talks to star alongside Natalie Portman in the drama "Pale Blue Dot". The film tells the story of a successful female astronaut (Portman), whose life starts to unravel as she loses her connection to her family after coming home from a mission in space. Her experiences are based on the theory that astronauts who spend too much time in space begin to lose their grip on reality when confronted with life at home. Hamm will play an astronaut trainee with whom Portman's character begins an affair.

"Fargo" and "Legion" series creator Noah Hawley will direct the film from a script by Brian C. Brown and Elliott DiGuiseppi. The inspiration for this story was a 2007 incident when an astronaut love triangle ended with a female mission specialist trying to kidnap her rival. Reese Witherspoon, who at one point was attached to star in the lead role, will produce along with Bruna Papandrea. Production is expected to begin in the spring.

Jon Hamm can also be seen in the Amazon and BBC Studios six-part miniseries "Good Omens", and Brad Anderson's thriller "Beirut".
