Three-time Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone is officially on board to executive produce the upcoming prequel "John Rambo", which is being developed by Lionsgate, Millenium Media and AGBO. This is the sixth installment in the Rambo franchise, and only the first time that Stallone has ever produced a Rambo movie. It's also the first time that Stallone isn't starring as the titular character since the new installment will take place bfore the original film, 1982's "First Blood". Stallone was also a writer on the previous five Rambo movies, and directed the 2008 installment. All five films in the franchise have grossed a total of $819 million worldwide.
Noah Centineo will star as a younger John Rambo. The film is directed by Jalmari Helander ("Sisu") from a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Filming is currently underway in Bangkok, Thailand. The cast also includes Yao ("Sinners"), Jason Tobin ("A Thousand Blows"), Quincy Isaiah ("Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty"), Jefferson White ("Yellowstone"), and Tayme Thapthimthong ("The White Lotus").
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Adam Fogelson said "Sylvester Stallone knows the character of John Rambo better than anyone, and Lionsgate has had the good fortune of partnering with Sly for more than 20 years on this legendary IP. His participation is the final, critical piece to John Rambo, and we're thrilled to have his involvement."
Producers include Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger for Millennium Media, and Angela Russo-Otstot and Michael Disco for AGBO. Anthony & Joe Russo, Trevor Short, and Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk executive produce for Bonfire Legend, alongside Sylvester Stallone. The film is produced by Lionsgate, Millennium Media, Templeton Media, and AGBO, and will be distributed by Lionsgate.
