McKenna Grace Joins SCOOBY-DOO Live-Action Series

McKenna Grace Joins SCOOBY-DOO Live-Action Series
Emmy-nominated actress and singer Mckenna Grace ("Regretting You", "Scream 7") has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix live-action series "Scooby-Doo". Grace will star as a young Daphne Blake as the show will delve into the origins of the Mystery Inc. gang. The actress also voiced the young version of the character in the 2020 animated film "Scoob!", and was attached to reprise the role in the prequel "Scoob! Holiday Haunt" before that film was terminated by Warner Bros. Discovery in order to cut costs. The series has been picked up for eight episodes.

Here is the official synopsis: "During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne (Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets."

The show is written by Josh Appelbaum ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol") and Scott Rosenberg ("Con Air", "Gone in 60 Seconds"), who also serve as showrunners and executive producers. André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner also executive produce under their Midnight Radio banner, alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman via Berlanti productions. Warner Bros. Television will produce. Berlanti Productions is currently under an overall deal at WBTV, with the studio controlling the rights to the Hanna-Barbera characters.

Previous live-action "Scooby-Doo" projects include the 2002 film starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini, a 2004 sequel titled "Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed", and two TV live-action films in 2009 and 2010.
