Laurence Fishburne Joins Scarlett Johansson in Mike Flanagan's THE EXORCIST Reboot

Oscar nominee Laurence Fisburne has signed on to star in Universal's upcoming reboot of "The Exorcist" from writer/director Mike Flanagan ("Midnight Mass", "The Haunting of Hill House", "The Haunting of Bly Manor"). The cast also includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Diane Lane and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Filming will start in New York City. The release date has been set for March 2027.

While the plot is being kept under wraps, it has been reported that the film will be a new story set within "The Exorcist" universe and is not a sequel to the failed 2023 reboot "The Exorcist: Believer". Fishburne's role is also unknown.

The film is produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Morgan Creek Entertainment. Flanagan will produce alongside Alexandra Magistro via Red Room Pictures. David Robinson produces for Morgan Creek while Jason Blum and Ryan Turek serve as producer and executive producer for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
