"Dead Man's Wire" is a fact-based crime thriller directed by
Gus Van Sant (
"Good Will Hunting",
"Milk") from a screenplay by
Austin Kolodney based on the 2018 documentary
"Dead Man's Line".
Bill Skarsgard stars as Tony Kiritsis, who on February 8, 1977 entered the office of Richard Hall (
Dacre Montgomery), president of the Meridian Mortgage Company, and took him hostage with a sawed-off shotgun wired with a "dead man's wire" from the trigger to Tony's own neck. The cast also includes
Al Pacino, Cary Elwes, Myha'la, Kelly Lynch and
Colman Domingo. The film opened in theaters on January 16, 2026.
