VERY YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Starring Zach Galifianakis Gets Series Order at FX

The comedy pilot "Very Young Frankenstein", based on the 1974 cult classic Mel Brooks film "Young Frankenstein", has been picked up to series by FX. The show hails from "What We Do In the Shadows" trio Stefani Robinson, Taika Waititi and Garrett Basch, who will executive produce alongside Brooks. Waititi directs from a script by Robinson.

The cast includes Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells, Spencer House, Nikki Crawford, Kumail Nanjiani and Cary Elwes. Character details are under wraps, as is the plot of the series. Brooks' original film was a spoof of Universal monster movies of the 1930s and 1940s, and starred Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Cloris Leachman and Teri Garr. It was nominated for two Oscars (Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound).

Nick Grad, President of FX Entertainment said the following: "'Very Young Frankenstein' blends inspiration from the fan-favorite movie with the inventive, irreverent spirit that has defined FX comedies over the years, making this a completely original take on the classic story. In the hands of FX veterans Stefani, Taika and Garrett, alongside the iconic Mel Brooks, we know that fans will have as much fun watching this series as we’re having making it".

Michael Gruskoff and Kevin Salter also executive produce. The series is produced by 20th Television.

SAW 10th Anniversary Re-Release Trailer and Poster

The trailer and poster for the 10th Anniversary re-release of the original "Saw" have been released. I can't believe it's already been 10 years since I first saw the film, and while the sequels failed to recapture what made the first one so ghoulishly cool, there's no doubt that James Wan's original film has earned its cult status and has generated a wave of like-minded gore-flicks. Whether that can be considered a merit or not, it doesn't change the fact that this is the film that propelled Wan's career and allowed him to make more interesting horror films like "Insidious" and "The Conjuring", not to mention he is now directing "Fast & Furious 7". For an in-depth look at all the "Saw" movies, read the reviews on this blog.

"Saw" will be back in theaters for one week beginning October 31st.
