"The Sisters Brothers" is a darkly comic western co-written and directed by BAFTA and Palme d'Or winner Jacques Audiard ("A Prophet") in his English-language debut.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Patrick DeWitt and it stars Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly as Charlie and Eli Sisters, both brothers and assassins whose latest assignment takes them on a journey that will test the deadly family ties that bind. Jake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed, Rebecca Root, Allison Tolman and Rutger Hauer co-star.
"The Sisters Brothers" premiered at the 2018 Venice Film Festival where it received the Silver Lion for Best Director, and opened in select theaters on September 21, 2018. The film has received mostly positive reviews from critics.
