"Selena: The Series" is a biographical drama series directed by Hiromi Kamata and written by Moises Zamora. The show tells the story of Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla (Christian Serratos), from her childhood to her rise to fame. The cast also includes Ricardo Chavira, Seidy Lopez, Gabriel Chavarria and Noemiz Gonzalez.

"Selena: The Series" premiered on December 4, 2020 on Netflix.

• The upcoming Netflix biographical series "Selena" that chronicles the life of the late Mexican-American Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla (previously played by Jennifer Lopez in the 1997 feature film). Produced and written by Moises Zamora, the show stars Christian Serratos ("The Walking Dead") in the lead role.
• Hulu's new ten-episode retro-chic crime noir series "Reprisal" starring Abigail Spencer ("Timeless"), Rodrigo Santoro ("Westworld"), Ron Perlman ("Hellboy") and Mena Massoud ("Aladdin"). The show is created, written and executive produced by Josh Corbin ("StartUp").
• The AppleTV horror streaming series "Servant" from acclaimed filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense", "Split"). The cast features Toby Kebbell ("Kong: Skull Island"), Lauren Ambrose ("Six Feet Under"), Nell Tiger Free ("Game of Thrones") and Rupert Grint ("Harry Potter").
• FX's three-part miniseries "A Christmas Carol" produced and written by Steven Knight ("Peaky Blinders") based on Charles Dickens' classic 1843 holiday story of the same name. The film stars Guy Pearce, Andy Serkis, Stephen Graham, Charlotte Riley, Joe Alwyn, Vinette Robinson and Jason Flemyng.
• DC Universe's adult animated comedy series "Harley Quinn" based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The show features the voices of Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Diedrich Bader, Jim Rash, Ron Funches, Christopher Meloni, Tony Hale and more.

Christian Serratos in Talks to Play Selena Quintanilla in Netflix Series

"The Walking Dead" alum Christian Serratos is in negotiations to star in "Selena: The Series", Netflix's upcoming biographical series that centers on Tejano music superstar Selena Quintanilla. The show will be written and executive produced by Moises Zamora ("American Crime").

The streaming series has been described as a "coming of age story following Selena as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music."

Singer-songwriter, model, actress and fashion designer Selena Quintanilla was one of the biggest Latino crossover artists, selling over 60 million albums before her tragic death in 1995 at age 23, when she was killed by her former fan club president. Her posthumous crossover album "Dreaming of You" topped the Billboard 200 later that year, a first for a Latin artist.

The Quintanilla family is on board to assist in its development and will also executive produce through Campanario Entertainment. Selena's story was previously brought to the big screen in the 1997 biopic "Selena", which starred Jennifer Lopez in a performance that earned the actress a Golden Globe nomination. The creative team behind the Netflix series previously secured a put pilot commitment at ABC for a series inspired by the musical legacy of Selena last year.

Serratos currently plays Rosita Espinosa on AMC's "The Walking Dead", and her TV resume also includes "The Secret Life of the American Teenager", "American Horror Story" and "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide". She has also appeared in films like the "Twilight" franchise, "Pop Star" and "Flight 7500".
