Weekend Box-Office: Beyonce's RENAISSANCE Scores $21 Million Debut

Beyonce's documentary/concert film "Renaissance" topped the charts over the post-Thanksgiving weekend. Other new releases include the Japanese kaiju flick "Godzilla Minus One", the indian action drama "Animal", Angel Studios' faith-based sci-fi movie "The Shift" and John Woo's new movie "Silent Night".

SILENT NIGHT (2023) - Trailer, Clips, images and Poster

"Silent Night" is an action thriller directed by John Woo ("Broken Arrow", "Face/Off") from a script by Robert Archer Lynn. This Woo's first American film since 2003's "Paycheck". The film does not feature any dialogue and stars Joel Kinnaman, Scott Mescudi, Harold Torres and Catalina Sandino Moreno. The film opened in theaters on December 1, 2023.

Kid Cudi Joins John Woo's Action Thriller SILENT NIGHT

Grammy-winning musician and actor Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi ("X", "Don't Look Up") has joined the cast of the upcoming action thriller film directed by John Woo ("Face/Off", "Broken Arrow") from a script by Robert Lynn ("Deadbox").

The film stars Joel Kinnaman as Godlock, a father on a mission to avenge his young son who was tragically caught in the crossfire of gang violence on Christmas Eve. Shot and nearly killed while in pursuit of the murderers, Godlock vows to avenge his son by any means necessary. Mescudi will play a detective named Dennis Vassel.
Executive producer Joe Gatta said the following:

"Based on what we’ve seen from set so far, it’s clear that Scott has a presence and gravitas that is incredibly captivating. He is a powerful addition, and perfect complement, to this stellar cast."

Production is currently underway in Mexico City. The cast also includes Harold Torres and Catalina Sandino Moreno. "John Wick" production company Thunder Road Films is producing with Capstone Studios.

Mescudi is also set to star in and make his directorial debut with the Netflix movie "Teddy", produced by Jay-Z and Jeymes Samuels ("The Harder They Fall").
