"The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" is a British drama that marks the directorial debut of Oscar nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor ("12 Years a Slave"). Written and directed by Ejiofor, the film is based on the memoir of the same name by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer, and it tells the story of a thirteen year old boy (Maxwell Simba) in Malawi who invents an unconventional way to save his family and village from famine.
"The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize, and was released on March 1, 2019 via Netflix.
