A DOG'S JOURNEY Trailer, TV Spots, Featurettes, Images and Posters

The dramedy "A Dog's Journey" is a sequel to the 2017 film "A Dog's Purpose". Both films are based on W. Bruce Cameron's books. Cameron also co-wrote the screenplays. The sequel is directed by TV helmer Gail Mancuso ("Gilmore Girls", "Modern Family").

The film continues the story of Bailey, once again voiced by Josh Gad, who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he meets. The cast also features Dennis Quaid, Marg Helgenberger, Betty Gilpin, Kathryn Prescott, and Henry Lau.

"A Dog's Journey" opened in theaters on May 17, 2019 and received mostly mixed reviews from critics.

Weekend Box-Office: JOHN WICK 3 Dethrones AVENGERS ENDGAME With $57M Debut

"John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" dominated the weekend box-office with a better-than-expected debut, while "Avengers: Endgame" took a step back for the first time after 24 days in theaters. The other new arrival, the canine-centric family film "A Dog's Journey", and the teen romance "The Sun is also a Star", performed below expectations.

In Theaters: JOHN WICK 3 - PARABELLUM, A DOG'S JOURNEY, THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR and THE SOUVENIR

The third installment in the "John Wick" saga, subtitled "Parabellum", is now in theaters and intends to give "Avengers: Endgame" a run for its money. Starring Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry, the threequel already brought in $5.9 million from Thursday night previews from 3,000 locations, more than double what "John Wick: Chapter 2" earned from previews in 2017, and the film is expected to finish its opening weekend with around $48 million. Also, the extremely positive reception from both critics and moviegoers will do wonders for its box-office prospects.

Another sequel was released this weekend, "A Dog's Journey", which is the third film, so far, based on W. Bruce Cameron's canine-centric novels, and a direct sequel to 2017's "A Dog's Purpose". Preview earnings have been pretty slow for this one, with only $275,000 raked in from 2,450 theaters, well behind both its predecessor ($455,000) and this year's "A Dog's Way Home" ($535,000). Pundits expect this one to debut with around $10 million over the weekend. Critics were largely mixed on the movie, while moviegoers liked it well enough.

If saccharine love stories are your thing, and you don't mind a bit of real-life politics mixed in, then you might want to give "The Sun is Also a Star" a try. The teen drama based on the young adult novel of the same name by Nicola Yoon ("Everything, Everything"), received generally mixed reactions from both critics and moviegoers. The film is expected to gross $5 million from over 2,000 theaters in its opening weekend.

In limited release, it might be worth checking out the drama "The Souvenir" written and directed by Joanna Hogg. The film stars Tilda Swinton and her daughter Honor Swinton Byrne, and won the Grand Jury Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

• Netflix's fact-based inspirational drama "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind", the feature directorial debut of Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.
• The second season of HBO's hit comedy series "Barry" co-created by and starring SNL alum Bill Hader.
• The new coming-of-age drama series "David Makes Man" from executive producers Michael B. Jordan and Oprah Winfrey, created by "Moonlight" scribe Tarell Alvin McCraney.
• The documentary "Apollo 11", which will be released by NEON and CNN Films to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Moon landing, and features never-before-seen 70mm footage.
