"The Cured" is a horror drama written and directed by David Freyne that imagines a world ravaged by a zombie apocalypse, but unlike other films of its kind it also tries to envision what would happen if a cure was found. As the zombification is reversed, those who were formerly infected face new problems as they find themselves discriminated against by society and their own families, causing social unrest and government interference.
The film stars Ellen Page, Sam Keeley, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Stuart Graham and Hilda Fay.
"The Cured" opened in limited release in the U.S. on February 28, 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the film's sociopolitical themes, but were disappointed by how the film ultimately reverts to genre cliches.
