New on DVD and Blu-ray: April 18, 2017

The new DVD and Blu-ray releases for the week of April 18th, 2017 include M. Night Shyamalan's new horror film "Split", the McDonalds biopic "The Founder", the crime thriller "Sleepless" starring Jamie Foxx, and the comic book animated adaptation "Teen Titans: The Judas Contract".

Two shows also have new seasons out now on home video: the British drama "Home Fires" (Season 2) and the sci-fi series "Killjoys" (Season 2).

Among the classic films released this week we have the 4-Disc Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo for "Donnie Darko", Criterion Collection editions for "Buena Vista Social Club" and "Woman of the Year", Studio Ghibli's "Ocean Waves" for the first time on DVD and Blu-ray, the 25th anniversary edition of "A League of Their Own", and the Collector's Edition of "Tales From the Hood".

THE FOUNDER Clips, Featurettes, Images and Posters

The biopic "The Founder" tells the story of Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), the ruthless businessman who transformed McDonald's from a small fast food diner owned by two brothers into the worldwide franchise we know today. Although that might sound like your average "success story", the film carries a much darker tone due to Kroc's aggressive tactics and willingness to step on anyone to get where he needs to get. It's also Keaton's career-best performance, as many critics noted, but unfortunately his work went by unnoticed this awards season.

Directed by John Lee Hancock ("The Blind Side"), the film also stars Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch, Linda Cardellini, Laura Dern, Patrick Wilson and B.J. Novak.

The film opened in theaters on January 20th, 2017, but ended with a poor box-office performance, grossing only $3.4 million in its nationwide release.

Weekend Box-Office: SPLIT Beats XXX: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE

M. Night Shyamalan delivered a new box-office hit as his latest thriller, "Split" topped the charts with an impressive January opening. The Vin Diesel action sequel "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" delivered a decent opening, while the biopic "The Founder" barely made the Top 10. Also, more good news for "Rogue One".

In Theaters: XXX - RETURN OF XANDER CAGE, THE FOUNDER, SPLIT, TRESPASS AGAINST US

This week in theaters we have a new Vin Diesel sequel, the very silly and over-the-top "XXX: Return of Xander Cage", the biopic "The Founder", which tells the story of a business cut-throat who also happens to be the man behind the McDonald's brand, and the new M. Night Shyamalan flick "Split" starring an insane James McAvoy. Also out in limited release is the crime drama "Trespass Against Us" starring Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson.

THE FOUNDER Trailer and Poster

The Weinstein Company has released the first trailer and poster for the biopic "The Founder".

Directed by John Lee Hancock ("The Blind Side") from a script by Robert D. Siegel ("The Wrestler"), the film stars Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald's and it tells the story of how he stole the idea for what ultimately became the billion-dollar empire we all know.

The cast also features Nick Offerman, Linda Cardellini, Patrick Wilson, Laura Dern, BJ Nova and John Caroll Lynch.

"The Founder" opens in theaters on August 5th.
