"The Last Full Measure" is a war drama written and directed by Todd Robinson ("White Squall" scribe). The film tells the true story of William H. Pitsenbarger (played by Jeremy Irvine), a United States Air Force Pararescueman who flew rescue missions during the Vietnam War to aid downed soldiers and pilots, and he personally saved over sixty men in the Battle of Xa Cam, before making the ultimate sacrifice in the bloodiest battle of the war.

Thirty-two years later, respected Pentagon staffer Scott Huffman (Sebastian Stan) is tasked with investigating a Congressional Medal of Honor request for Pitsenbarger made by his best friend and PJ partner on the mission (William Hurt) and his parents (Christopher Plummer & Diane Ladd).

The cast also includes Ed Harris, Samuel L. Jackson, LisaGay Hamilton, Michael Imperioli, Amy Madigan, Linus Roache, Alison Sudol, John Savage, Dale Dye and Peter Fonda.

"The Last Full Measure" opened in limited release on January 24, 2020.

The new releases this week won't pose much of a threat to "Bad Boys For Life", but we definitely have a wide variety of genres to choose from. The first new release is STX's "The Gentlemen", a new Guy Ritchie film boasting a solid ensemble cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery and Colin Farrell. The R-rated film picked up a modest $725,000 from Thursday previews and will probably end up with around $11 million from 2,165 theaters this weekend.

For horror fans we have "The Turning" starring Mackenzie Davis. The film was a passion project for Steven Spielberg, who serves as an executive producer, and it's based on the 1898 story "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. It raked in $425,000 from previews, well behind other genre releases, and it's expected to finish the weekend with around $7.0 million from 2,500 theaters.

The last of the new wide releases is the true story war drama "The Last Full Measure". It's acutally a semi-wide release, with just 600 theaters, so there's little hope of it making the Top 10 at the box-office. The film has quite an acting ensemble, which includes Sebastian Stan, Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Fonda, Ed Harris and more.

In limited release it might be worth checking out the sci-fi horror "Color Out of Space" starring Nicolas Cage.
