"Think Like a Man"), the comedy
"Girls Trip" follows four lifelong friends, played by
Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall, Queen Latifah and
Tiffany Haddish, who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Music Festival with one objective in mind: to party like it's 1999.
The film also stars
Larenz Tate, Kate Walsh, Mike Colter, Lara Grice and
Kofi Siriboe.
"Girls Trip" opened in theaters on July 21st, 2017 and received mostly positive reviews from critics, who offered praise for the film's strong cast and the writer and director's ability to milk the comic premise for all it's worth. Many critics compared it to
Paul Feig's
"Bridesmaids", but in a good way.
The film was also a surprise hit at the box-office. It opened with $31.2 million, behind only
Christopher Nolan's
"Dunkirk", and has grossed $65.1 million in 10 days. And it only cost $19 million to produce.
