"Magellan" is a historical drama written and directed by Lav Diaz ("Season of the Devil", "The Woman Who Left"). This is Diaz's first English-language film. The cast includes Gael Garcia Bernal as Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, Angela Azevedo, Amado Arjay Babon, Ronnie Lazaro, Hazel Orencio and Tomas Alves. The film premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and opened in select US theaters on January 9, 2026. On March 17, 2026 it was released on digital platforms.
