Official Synopsis : In 1937, Nanking stands at the forefront of a war between China and Japan. As the invading Japanese Imperial Army overruns China’s capital city, desperate civilians seek refuge behind the nominally protective walls of a western cathedral. Here, John Miller (CHRISTIAN BALE), an American trapped amidst the chaos of battle and the ensuing occupation takes shelter, joined by a group of innocent schoolgirls and thirteen courtesans, equally determined to escape the horrors taking place outside the church walls. Struggling to survive the violence and persecution wrought by the Japanese army, it is an act of heroism which eventually leads the seemingly disparate group to fight back, risking their lives for the sake of everyone. 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards Winners

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards have come and gone. The only real surprises were in the Television category (like Kelsey Grammer's and Matt LeBlanc's wins). An even bigger surprise, though, was not about who-won-what. The most surprising element of the evening was the mild comic performance by host Ricky Gervais whose only radical exercise in biting humor was the use of an F-Bomb when refering to the fact that he could not understand what presenters Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek had said, although, I honestly found it to be less funny than Gervais probably hoped it would be. Anyway, despite the hype of his return as host after last year's scathing performance, he gave a much more subdued performance, which was probably the enforced condition for reprising his hosting duties in 2012. Without further delays, here are the winners of the 69th Annual Golden Globes :

The 69th Annual Golden Globes Nominations have been announced and, as expected, no major surprises. "The Artist" (6 nominations), "The Descendants" (5 nominations), "The Help" (5 nominations), "Moneyball" (4 nominations) and "Midnight in Paris" (4 nominations) are clearly the movies that will receive the most attention during the awards season. "Hugo" (3 nominations) and "War Horse" (2 nominations) managed to take some notice, thanks mostly to the fact that they were directed by Scorsese and Spielberg, respectively.  And in another surprise, David Fincher's remake of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" scored two nominations, for Best Actress - Drama (Rooney Mara) and Best Original Score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross). The Golden Globes will be awarded on January 15, 2012, and the show will be, once again, hosted by Ricky Gervais. Read the full list of nominations after the jump :

Ricky Gervais Returns as Host of the Golden Globes

So you thought Ricky Gervais really pissed off the Hollywood folks during this year's Golden Globes show ? And you thought that they would never, ever, allow him to play host again after his last performance filled to the brim with scathing jokes. If so, you thought wrong. According to certain reports, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association wants the british comedian to return for the 2012 Golden Globes. Although it's not 100% official, yet, Gervais is actively mentioning the topic on his blog : "What actually tipped the balance and made me say yes, was the fact that it would shut up all those fucking idiots who said that I’d never be invited back. Is that the wrong reason to do something? Ha ha. I think it is.". If you're wondering just how incisive his jokes will be this time around, here's what Gervais has to say about that : "Now here’s the thing. The outrage I caused was of course, as usual, totally out of proportion to the things I said. I don’t think anyone had any right to be offended but they were. This year I’m going to make sure their offence is completely justified." Oh yeah, here comes the pain !
