FIRST COW (2019) - Trailer, Clips, Images and Postr

"First Cow" is a drama directed by Kelly Reichardt ("Night Moves") from a script she co-wrote alongside Jonathan Raymond based on Raymond's novel "The Half Life".

Set in the 19th century, the film follows a taciturn loner and skilled cook (John Magaroho) who travels with fur trappers to the Oregon Territory, and finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee) also seeking his fortune. Soon the two collaborate on a successful business that involves a milking cow owned by a wealthy landowner. Toby Jones, Ewen Bremner, Scott Shepherd, Rene Auberjonois and Alia Shawkat co-star.

"First Cow" premiered at the 2019 Telluride Film Festival and was selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival. It received a limited release in U.S. theaters on March 6, 2020.

In Theaters: ONWARD, THE WAY BACK, SWALLOW, FIRST COW and BACURAU

Disney and Pixar have released "Onward", their latest animated film, in theaters, and while the film is likely to be a surefire winner this weekend, there are concerns among pundits relating to how COVID-19 will impact the domestic box-office. The film is well received by both critics and audiences, and has already raked in $2 million from Thursday previews. The film is expected to finish the weekend with around $40 million from 4,310 theaters.

Another new wide release this week is the drama "The Way Back" starring Ben Affleck. The film is looking to score a $7 million opening weekend from 2,718 theaters.

Also, the Jane Austen adaptation "Emma" will expand into over 1,500 theaters.

In limited release it might be worth checking out the psychological thriller "Swallow" starring Haley Bennett, the period drama "First Cow" based on Jonathan Raymond's novel "The Half Life", and the Brazilian thriller "Bacurau".

• The horror film "Brahms: The Boy 2" starring Katie Holmes. The film is a sequel to the 2016 hit "The Boy" which starred Lauren Cohan, and it is again directed by William Brent Bell.
• The indie dramedy "Standing Up, Falling Down" starring Ben Schwartz ("Parks and Recreation") and Billy Crystal. Directed by indie film producer Matt Ratner, the film also stars Eloise Mumford, Grace Gummer, Nate Corddry and Jill Hennessy.
• The frontier drama "First Cow" based on the novel "The Half-Life" by Portland author and screenwriter Jonathan Raymond. The film is directed by Kelly Reichardt ("Certain Women") and it stars John Magaro, Orion Lee, Toby Jones, Ewen Bremner and Alia Shawkat.
• The Disney Plus movie "Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made" based on the book series of the same name by children's author Stephan Pastis. Directed by Tom McCarthy ("Spotlight"), the film stars Winslow Fegley, Ophelia Lovibond, Kyle Bornheimer, Wallace Shawn and Craig Robinson.
