John Cameron Mitchell (

"Rabbit Hole"), the sci-fi romantic comedy
"How to Talk to Girls at Parties" is based on
Neil Gaiman's short story of the same name, and it tells the story of a shy suburban London teenager (
Alex Sharp) in 1977, who falls in love with a beautiful and rebellious alien teenager (
Elle Fanning). The film also stars
Nicole Kidman Ruth Wilson, Matt Lucas and
Abraham Lewis.
"How to Talk to Girls at Parties" premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. It was released in the U.K. on May 11, 2018, and in select theaters in the U.S. on May 25, 2018. It received mixed to negative reviews from critics.
