GODS OF EGYPT (2016) - Mortal hero Bek teams with the god Horus in an alliance against Set, the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt's throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.

HUNTER KILLER (2018) - Deep under the Arctic Ocean, American submarine Captain Joe Glass (Gerard Butler, Olympus Has Fallen, 300) is on the hunt for a U.S. sub in distress when he discovers a secret Russian coup is in the offing, threatening to dismantle the world order. With crew and country on the line, Captain Glass must now assemble an elite group of Navy SEALs to rescue the kidnapped Russian president and sneak through enemy waters to stop WWIII.

LAW ABIDING CITIZEN (2009) - When the killers are caught, Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), a hotshot young Philadelphia prosecutor, is assigned to the case. Over his objections, Nick is forced by his boss to offer one of the suspects a light sentence in exchange for testifying against his accomplice. Fast forward ten years. The man who got away with murder is found dead and Clyde Shelton coolly admits his guilt. Then he issues a warning to Nick: Either fix the flawed justice system that failed his family, or key players in the trial will die. Soon Shelton follows through on his threats, orchestrating from his jail cell a string of spectacularly diabolical assassinations that can be neither predicted nor prevented. Philadelphia is gripped with fear as Sheltons high-profile targets are slain one after another and the authorities are powerless to halt his reign of terror. Only Nick can stop the killing, and to do so he must outwit this brilliant sociopath in a harrowing contest of wills in which even the smallest misstep means death. With his own family now in Sheltons crosshairs, Nick finds himself in a desperate race against time facing a deadly adversary who seems always to be one step ahead.

THE VANISHING (2018) - On an uninhabited island 20 miles from the rugged Scottish coast, three lighthouse keepers arrive for their 6 week shift. As they settle into their normal quiet routine, something unexpected, potentially life-changing occurs - they stumble upon gold. What follows is a tense battle for survival, fed by isolation, paranoia and greed, leading three honest men down a path to destruction.

The submarine thriller "Hunter Killer" stars Gerard Butler as the Captain of an American submarine who is forced to assemble an elite group of Navy SEALs for a dangerous mission when a secret Russian coup is discovered that could set off World War III.

The film is directed by Donovan Marsh ("Spud") from a script penned by Arne Schmidt and Jamie Moss ("Ghost in the Shell") based on the 2012 novel "Firing Point" by Don Keith and George Wallace. The cast also features Gary Oldman, Common, Michael Nyqvist, Linda Cardellini, Zane Holtz, Caroline Goodall and Ilia Volok.

"Hunter Killer" opened in theaters on October 26, 2018. The film has received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, but the audience reception is quite the opposite. CinemaScore reports an "A-" grade from its opening night audience polls. Its box-office debut is expected to land somewhere under $10 million from 2,200 theaters.

in-theaters-johnny-english-strikes-again-hunter-killer-suspiria-indivisible

Three new wide and semi-wide releases are opening in theaters this weekend, but it looks like "Halloween" will hold at the top of the charts for a consecutive week. The first is the British action comedy "Johnny English Strikes Again" starring Rowan Atkinson opening in around 500 theaters, which probably won't make the Top 10. Then there's the submarine thriller "Hunter Killer" starring Gerard Butler in 2,720 theaters, and the Pure Flix faith-based drama "Indivisible" in 830 locations.

As you can see, the weekend offerings are pretty soft, and all three films have been receiving mostly negative reviews from critics. On a more interesting note, Luca Guadagnino's "Suspiria remake is making its debut in select theaters this weekend, and Jonah Hill's directorial debut "Mid90s" is expanding nationwide.
