box-office-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles

The first live action iteration of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" since the 1990s managed to bring down Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" after just one week in the top spot. The Ninja Turtles reboot opened with $65 million, more than the analysts predicted. Marvel's sci-fi superhero film  Guardians took a step back with a pretty serious 56% drop compared to its debut last week, but a grossed a still solid $41 million.

The tornado thriller "Into The Storm" scored a modest $18 million debut versus a $50 million budget, but that didn't surprise anyone. The Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey produced "The Hundred-Foot Journey" performed quite well, grossing $11 million in its first three days, a decent gross considering the film's $22 million budget. The sequel "Step Up: All In" took in $6.5 million in its first weekend, much less than "Step Up: Revolution" which took in $11.78 million in 2012. However, All In also grossed $37 million overseas, which makes for a decent worldwide total so far.

New Wide Releases: "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", "Into the Storm", "The Hundred-Foot Journey", "Step Up: All In".

Biggest Drop : "Get On Up" (-63%)

Into The Storm Movie Clips

Three new clips have been released for the disaster thriller "Into the Storm". Directed by Steven Quale ("Final Destination 5"), the film opened today in theaters, but it has received some harsh reviews. The Rottentomatoes.com critical consensus acknowledges that the film is "clumsily scripted and populated with forgettable characters", but admits that it does showcase some "thrilling special effects". The cast features Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Arlen Escarpeta, Max Deacon, Nathan Kress, Jeremy Sumpter, Kyle Davis, Jon Reep and Scott Lawrence.

"Into the Storm" opens in theaters on August 8th.

into-the-storm-trailer-posters

The full trailer for the tornado thriller "Into the Storm" has been released online along with two new posters. The film, directed by Steven Quale ("Final Destination 5"), depicts the destruction caused by one of the biggest storms ever witnessed in pure found-footage fashion. The visual effects seem to have improved since the teaser trailer, but it looks more like a VFX highlight reel than an actual movie. The cast features Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Arlen Escarpeta, Max Deacon, Nathan Kress, Jeremy Sumpter, Kyle Davis, Jon Reep and Scott Lawrence.

"Into the Storm" opens in theaters on August 8th.

into the storm movie trailer

The first trailer and poster for Warner Bros' found-footage tornado thriller "Into the Storm" have been released. The story follows a group of high school students who document the events and aftermath of a devastating tornado. While the trailer does a good job selling the film's atmosphere, the film itself looks more like "The Day After Tomorrow" than "Twister", and I'm not sure that's a good thing. Directed by Steven Quale ("Final Destination 5"), the film stars Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Arlen Escarpeta, Max Deacon, Nathan Kress, Jeremy Sumpter, Kyle Davis, Jon Reep and Scott Lawrence.

"Into the Storm" opens in theaters on August 8th.
