Weekend Box-Office: THE MARTIAN Back on Top As New Releases Fumble

Among a wave of four new wide releases, a few of them being a good fit for the upcoming Halloween, only one came out on top, just not the one anyone expected. Ridley Scott's "The Martian" is back as the #1 movie at the box-office while "The Last Witch Hunter", "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension", "Jem and The Holograms" and "Rock the Kasbah" all disappointed.

In Theaters: JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION, ROCK THE KASBAH, THE LAST WITCH HUNTER

Now in theaters we have "Jem and the Holograms", an adaptation of a 1980s cartoon, "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension", the final installment in the found footage horror franchise, "Rock the Kasbah", a comedy starring Bill Murray, and "The Last Witch Hunter", a new Vin Diesel vehicle. New JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS Clips and Pictures

Five new clips and ten images for the 1980s cartoon series adaptation "Jem and the Holograms" have been released online. The film is now in theaters, and has been met by a furious critical reception. Bland, generic, bloated and lackluster were the most frequently used epithets in describing the movie. One critic sums it up quite well: "a cartoon about a cartoon that wants little to do with the original cartoon".

Directed by Jon M. Chu ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation"), the film stars Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko, Aurora Perrineau, Molly Ringwald, Ryan Guzman, Nicholas Braun, Nathan Moore, and Juliette Lewis.

A new trailer and behind-the-scenes featurette for the "Jem and the Holograms" movie have been released. The film is based on the 1980s cartoon of the same name and the featurette details some of the difficulties of bringing the live-action version to the big screen. Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko and Aurora Perrineau star as a small-town girl and her three sisters who break out from underground video sensation to global superstars.

Directed by Jon M. Chu ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation"), the film also stars Molly Ringwald, Ryan Guzman, Nicholas Braun, Nathan Moore, and Juliette Lewis.

"Jem and the Holograms" opens in theaters on October 23rd.
