Product Description: It's been three years since theme park and luxury resort, Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.

Weekend Box-Office: JURASSIC WORLD 2 Scores $150M Debut

"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" delivered the impressive debut everyone anticipated, and even exceeded expectations, but it's not quite the record-breaking opening of the first film in the reboot series.

In Theaters: JURASSIC WORLD - FALLEN KINGDOM, DAMSEL, BOUNDARIES and IZZY GETS THE FCK ACROSS TOWN

It's dino crisis time as "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" hits theaters. Critics didn't think much of it, but it's still primed to make a lot of money as pundits expect a $100+ million opening weekend.

There are no other wide releases in theaters this weekend, but there are a couple of limited releases worth checking out, including the western "Damsel" starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska, the dramedy "Boundaries" starring Vera Farmiga and Christopher Plummer, and "Izzy Gets the F*ck Across Town" starring Mackenzie Davis.

Directed by "The Impossible" and "A Monster Calls" helmer J.A. Bayona, the sci-fi adventure blockbuster "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is a sequel to Colin Trevorrow's 2015 "Jurassic Park" reboot "Jurassic World". The first film's writers, Derek Connolly and Trevorrow both returned to pen the script for the sequel.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, who are now on a mission to rescue the remaining dinosaurs on Isla Nublar before a catastrophic volcanic eruption destroys the island. Rafe Spall, B.D. Wong, Jeff Goldblum, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, James Cromwell, Toby Jones, Ted Levine and Geraldine Chaplin co-star.

A second sequel has been announced and will be released on June 11, 2021 with Trevorrow returning to direct.

"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" opened in theaters on June 22, 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics. The film is expected to open with over $100 million at the box-office. Overseas the film has already grossed $450 million, with a $113.6 million debut in China.

New trailers have been released for the highly anticipated sequel "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom", the Melissa McCarthy comedy "Life of the Party", the sci-fi thriller "Anon" starring Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried, the drama "Puzzle" starring Kelly Macdonald, the Netflix supernatural series "The Innocents", and the Syfy original movie "Hover".

JURASSIC WORLD 3 In the Works; Release Date Announced

As Universal is gearing up for the June 22nd release of "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom", the second film in the "Jurassic Park" reboot series, the studio is also getting ready to begin work on a third installment.

Colin Trevorrow, who directed and co-wrote the first film, will be directing the third chapter of the genetically-enhanced dino adventure, as well as executive-producing alongside Steven Spielberg. The script for "Jurassic World 3" will be penned by newcomer Emily Carmichael ("Pacific Rim: Uprising").

In an interview, Trevorrow spoke about Carmichael joining the team, saying that "It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy."

Universal also officially confirmed the threequel's release date as June 11, 2021.

Although plot details are still being figured out and will probably remain a secret until the film hits theaters, here's what Trevorrow has planned for the franchise starting with "Fallen Kingdom" :

"Yes, absolutely … I knew where I wanted it to go. I remember telling Steven [Spielberg] even while we were still making the first movie, “This is the beginning. Here is the middle. And here’s the end of the end. This is where we want to go. I feel like that kind of design is crucial to a franchise like this if you really want to bring people along with you and make sure they stay interested. It needs to be thought through on that level. It can’t be arbitrary, especially if we want to turn this into a character-based franchise with people who you lean in to follow what they’re going to do.

“At the end of this movie, it’s not a cliffhanger, but it’s designed for people who want to know what’s going to happen next, whereas the earlier Jurassic Park movies had pretty clear definitive endings. They were pretty much episodic. In working with Derek Connolly, my co-writer, we were also thinking about where it was going to go in the future."
