lbj-2017-new-on-dvd-and-blu-ray

Product Description: After Lyndon B. Johnson (Woody Harrelson) loses the 1960 Democratic presidential nomination to John F. Kennedy (Jeffrey Donovan), he agrees to be his young rival’s running mate. Once they win the election, despite his extensive experience and shrewd instincts, Johnson finds himself sidelined in the role of vice president. But, that all changes on Nov. 22, 1963, when Kennedy is assassinated and Johnson is suddenly thrust into the presidency. As the nation mourns, Johnson must contend with adversaries as he seeks to honor JFK’s legacy by championing the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Directed by Rob Reiner ("Misery", "A Few Good Men"), the biopic "LBJ" stars Woody Harrelson as president Lyndon B. Johnson, and follows his evolution from his young days in West Texas to his controversial term as president. Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bill Pullman, C. Thomas Howell, Jeffrey Donovan and Richard Jenkins also star.

"LBJ" opened in limited release on November 3rd, 2017 and received mixed to negative reviews. Critics mostly disliked the film's approach to the character and the sidestepping of more interesting aspects of its complex subject. Harrelson also received a mixed response from critics for his performance, but is generally considered the best thing about this movie. And, of course, negative comparisons have been made between this biopic and the HBO film "All the Way" starring Bryan Cranston.
