Sabrina Carpenter To Star In And Produce Musical Inspired By ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Two-time Grammy-winner Sabrina Carpenter has signed on to star in and produce an untitled musical inspired by Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland", for Universal Pictures. DGA Award and two-time Emmy nominee Lorene Scafaria ("Hustlers", "Succession") is set to direct from her own script.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. Marc Platt ("Wicked") will produce through Universal-based Marc Platt Productions. Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton will also produce through Alloy Entertainment. SVP Production Development Ryan Jones and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the studio, with Katie McNicol overseeing for Marc Platt Productions.

Carpenter recently signed on to guest star in a "Muppet Show" special for Disney+. She also just added a second North America leg to her "Short n' Sweet Tour", which includes six shows at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and five shows at Madison Square Garden in New York. Her new album "Man's Best Friend" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its August release and amassed over 180 million streams in the U.S. within the first week.

Scafaria is also set to direct the upcoming A24 comedy "Jonty" starring Jesse Plemons and Cole Escola.

"Hustlers" is a true story crime drama written and directed by Lorene Scafaria ("Seeking a Friend for the End of the World", "The Meddler"), based on the 2015 New York magazine article "The Hustlers at Scores" by Jessica Pressler.

The film follows a crew of savvy strippers in New York City, who band together and hatch a criminal plot to turn profits, after the sex industry bottoms out due to the 2008 financial crisis. The cast includes Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Cardi B, Lizzo, Julia Stiles, Madeline Brewer and Mercedes Ruehl.

"Hustlers" premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival and opened in theaters on September 13, 2019.

The dramedy "The Meddler" begins a limited release in theaters today, so here are the official trailer, six clips, a batch of images and a poster.

Directed by Lorene Scafaria ("Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"), the film stars Susan Sarandon as an aging widow from New York City who follows her daughter (Rose Byrne) to Los Angeles in hopes of starting a new life after her husband passes away. J.K. Simmons, Jerrod Carmichael, Jason Ritter, Cecily Strong, Lucy Punch and Megalyn Echikunwoke co-star.
