Legally Blonde Tv Series In The Works Reese Witherspoon Producing

A "Legally Blonde" TV series is in development at Amazon Prime Video. The project is being executive produced by Reese Witherspoon along with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creators of the hit series "Gossip Girl". Schwartz and Savage are also writing.

Witherspoon played the protagonist in two "Legally Blonde" movies and will executive produce under her Hello Sunshine banner alongside Lauren Neustadter. Hello Sunshine is part of Candle Media. Schwartz and Savage executive produce via Fake Empire. Marc Platt, a producer on the films, will also executive produce.

Amazon MGM Studios will produce. The studio has shown continued interest in developing new projects based on the IP they gained control of following their acquisition of MGM in 2022. Other projects of interest include "Barbershop" and "RoboCop".

The first "Legally Blonde" was released in 2001, and it starred Witherspoon as Elle Woods, a fashion-focused sorority girl who decides to attend Harvard Law School in an attempt to win back her boyfriend. In the process, she discovers a natural aptitude for the law.

Chris Pratt Picture

Chris Pratt has signed on to star in Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming sci-fi thriller "Mercy". The film will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov from a script by Marco van Belle ("Arthur & Merlin"). Bekmambetov previously worked with Pratt on the 2008 movie "Wanted", which was based on Mark Millar's comic book

The film is set in the near future when capital crime has increased, and it follows a detective (Pratt) who is accused of a violent crime and forced to prove his innocence.

The film is produced by Charles Roven, who just received his second Best Picture Oscar nomination for "Oppenheimer", under his Atlas Entertainment. Bekmambetov is also on board to produce through his production company BEL.

Here's what Amazon MGM Studios head Jennifer Salke had to say about the project: "From the moment Chuck Roven brought us Mercy and we read Marco van Belle’s script, we knew the film was meant for the big screen. As our relationship with The Terminal List and The Tomorrow War’s Chris Pratt continues to extend across film, we can’t wait to watch him bring this action-packed story to life, guided by Chuck and the vision of director Timur Bekmambetov. We could not imagine a better star and filmmaking team to execute on and deliver what is sure to be a gripping thrill ride and look forward to audiences being able to experience it in theaters.".

Leonardo DiCaprio in Final Talks to Star in and Produce MGM's JIM JONES Movie
Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio is in final talks to star in and produce MGM's "Jim Jones", a movie about the 1970s religious cult leader who was behind the Jonestown mass suicide on November 18, 1978 that took more than 900 lives, including 304 children.

DiCaprio will star as Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple religious group who constructed Jonestown in Guyana in 1974 and spurred a following to live with him there as he touted a socialist paradise free from U.S. government oppression.

Amid rumors of human rights abuses, the American government sent a delegation led by U.S. Representative Leo Ryan in November 1978. Ryan, along with four others, would eventually be gunned down by Jones' followers. Following the shooting, Jones orchestrated the massacre at the jungle commune in Guyana, in an act that entailed drinking Flavor Aid laced with cyanide.

Scott Rosenberg ("Venom") penned the screenplay, which the studio acquired in a seven figure deal. DiCaprio will produce for his Appian Way company alongside Jennifer Davisson. Rosenberg is also on board as an executive producer.

The actor can next be seen in Adam McKay's "Don't Look Up" and Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon".

MGM Lands Peter Dinklage-Led CYRANO Adaptation With Music by The National
MGM has picked up "Cyrano", a musical adaptation of Edmond Rostand's 1897 verse drama "Cyrano de Bergerac". "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage will reprise the role he played onstage in 2019.

The film will be directed by Joe Wright ("Atonement", "Darkest Hour") from a script by Erica Schmidt, and the cast also includes Haley Bennett, Brian Tyree Henry and Ben Mendelsohn.

The show placed emphasis on the title character's height rather than his nose. Dinklage played the lead at Goodspeed Opera House in 2018 and Off-Broadway the following year, while Bennett played Roxanne at the former.

Music is by The National songwriter-musicians Aaron and Bryce Dessner, with lyrics by lead vocalist Matt Berninger and longtime collaborator Carin Besser. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce along with Guy Heeley.

MGM also landed Ridley Scott's true crime drama "Gucci" about the murder of fashion trailblazer Maurizio Gucci, an Andy Weir space drama, and Paul Thomas Anderson's next movie.

As you probably already know, "The Hobbit" will be a two part adventure. Now, obviously, it just wouldn't sound right to use titles like "The Hobbit Part I" and "The Hobbit Part II". I mean, this is not "The Hangover". So, the studios involved in producing Peter Jackson's epic Tolkien adaptation have just announced the subtitles used for each film. The first one will be called "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and will be released on December 14, 2012. The second will be titled "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" (like Bilbo's book) and will be released on December 13, 2013. Obviously, Warner Brothers and MGM like December for their Middle-Earth adventures, as all three "Lord of the Rings" movies were released during that month. It also makes it a lot easier for Academy Awards voters to remember them so they can shower the films with Oscars.

Following MGM's messy financial trouble, the new James Bond movie found itself in production limbo. Now, as the studio is finally coming back to life, so is the new entry in the Bond franchise. Bond 23 will be released on November 9, 2012 and will once again star Daniel Craig. Furthermore, Sony Pictures Entertainment will not only distribute this movie, but will also be co-financing the 24th movie in the series. Good news all around for Bond fans. And I'm sure, quite a breath of fresh air for Daniel Craig. Look at this way, the man had just achieved fame by playing the most famous super-spy ever, and after only two movies, the whole thing falls apart. Now, he's at least sure he'll get two more movies. I'm quite satisfied with the arrangement myself, because I don't think I could have stomached yet another Bond reboot. I barely had time to get used to this one. Bond 23 will be directed by Sam Mendes and besides Craig, will also star Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem and Judi Dench.
