New on DVD and Blu-ray: January 10, 2017

The new DVD and Blu-ray releases for the week of January 10th, 2017 include Peter Berg's disaster drama "Deepwater Horizon", the Ben Affleck thriller "The Accountant", the comedy concert film "Kevin Hart: What Now?", the superhero flick "Max Steel" and the historical drama "The Birth of a Nation". Vin Diesel fans should check out the "xXx" 15th Anniversary Blu-ray, while horror fans might enjoy the documentary double feature of "Crystal Lake Memories" and "Never Sleep Again". Also out now on home video are the new seasons of "Homeland" and "Mr. Robot".

Weekend Box-Office: THE ACCOUNTANT Takes Down THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

"The Accountant" swooped in and pushed "The Girl on the Train" off its #1 position at the box-office. The stand-up comedy concert film "Kevin Hart: What Now?" also provided an impressive opening. Meanwhile, Mattel's superhero flick "Max Steel" flopped big time.

This week in theaters, Ben Affleck takes off the Bat suit to kick ass as "The Accountant". Mattel takes one of their toys and tries their luck at producing a live-action feature film with "Max Steel". The results are disappointing, to say the least. Kevin Hart fans can enjoy his latest stand-up show in the concert film "What Now ?". And in limited release, check out the action thriller "Desierto".

MAX STEEL Clip, TV Spots, Images and Posters

"Max Steel" is a new superhero flick and Mattel's first live-action feature film, based on their action figure and the animated series of the same name.

Ben Winchell stars as Max McGrath, a teenager with tremendous powers who forms a symbiotic bond with a techno-organic extraterrestrial named Steel (voiced by Josh Brener). Together they become Max Steel, a superhero possessing powerful strength beyond anything in our world.

Directed by Stewart Hendler ("H+"), the film also stars Ana Villafañe, Maria Bello, Andy Garcia and Mike Doyle.

"Max Steel" opens in theaters on October 14th.

MAX STEEL Images: Mattel Action Figure Movie First Look

The first official images for "Max Steel" have been released. The film is based on the Mattel action figure of the same name and directed by Stewart Hendler ("Sorority Row") from a script by Christopher Yost ("Thor: The Dark World"). Disney XD star Ben Winchell stars as "16-year-old Max who is going through a particularly uncomfortable bout of puberty: it seems he has hidden powers that when combined with an extraterrestrial friend, Steel, produce ‘the universe’s most powerful energy.’ The two join forces to become super hero Max Steel." The film also stars Andy Garcia, Maria Bello and Ana Villafañe.

"Max Steel" is currently in post-production and it does not have a release date set, but it's expected to arrive in theaters sometime in 2015.
