"Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America" is a sketch comedy limited series created by Larry David and Jeff Schaffer, and produced by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. The show features mostly improvised comedy sketches exploring various historical moments, and it consists of seven episodes, each containing approximately four historical sketches. The show premiered on June 26, 2026 on HBO/HBO Max.

Julia Garner To Star In Netflix Limited Series About FTX Scam

Emmy-winning "Ozark" and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" star Julia Garner, is set to star in and executive produce an upcoming untitled Netflix limited series that will focus on the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX and the relationship between FTX co-founder and chief executive Sam Bankman-Fried and his girlfriend and business associate Caroline Ellison, who will be played by Garner.

Based on a 2022 New York Magazine article, the show has been described as a Gen Z Bonnie and Clyde type of wild romance that will center on two hyper smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye – and then seduced, coaxed, and teased each other into stealing $36 billion.

Similar to her role in "Inventing Anna", Garner will be playing a young woman convicted and sent to prison for fraud. After she testified for the prosecution in the trial against crypto king Bankman-Fried, Collins was sentenced to two years. She is currently serving a reduced sentence and is set to be released this summer.

The project hails from Barack and Michelle Obama's Netflix-based Higher Ground, and is written by Oscar winner Graham Moore ("The Imitation Game", "The Outfit"). "The Spectacular Now" and "Smashed" helmer James Ponsoldt is set to direct, while "The Leftovers" and "The Good Wife" producer Jackie Hoyt will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

Garner can next be seen in Marvel's Fantastic Four movie as The Silver Surfer, and in "Barbarian" filmmaker Zac Cregger's highly anticipated new horror film "Weapons".

Viola Davis to Play Michelle Obama in FIRST LADIES Series in Development at Showtime

Oscar winner Viola Davis ("Fences", "Widows", "The Help") has signed on to star as former First Lady Michelle Obama in Showtime's upcoming drama series titled "First Ladies".

Written and executive produced by "Four Seats: A Thriller of the Supreme Court" and "The Guns of Ridgewood" author Aaron Cooley, the show will explore the personal and political lives of presidents' wives throughout American history. The focus will be on the East Wing of the White House, as opposed to the West, where many of history's most impactful and world changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America's charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies. The first season will focus on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford and Michelle Obama.

The series hails from Showtime and Lionsgate Television. Davis will also executive produce alongside Julius Tennon of JuVee Productions, Cathy Schulman of Welle Entertainment, Jeff Gaspin of Gaspin Media, and Brad Kaplan of LINK Entertainment.

Davis can be seen next in the upcoming sixth and final season of "How to Get Away With Murder", and is set to star alongside Chadwick Boseman in a Netflix film adaptation of August Wilson's play "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom". She will also reprise her role in the "Suicide Squad" sequel.

Viola Davis recently executive produced the documentary "Emanuel", about the 2015 mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church, and she will also executive produce "Fast Color", a TV series based on the 2018 sci-film of the same name, which starred Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Strathairn.
