Weekend Box-Office: DOG MAN Repeats In First As HEART EYES and LOVE HURTS Disappoint

DreamWorks Animation's family film "Dog Man" topped the charts in its sophomore frame, which also happened to be the Super Bowl weekend. The newly released romantic slasher comedy "Heart Eyes" and the action comedy "Love Hurts" fought hard for second and third place, but in the end, neither film succeeded in attracting a considerable audience.

DreamWorks Animation's new film "Dog Man" based on the popular children's graphic novel topped the charts over the weekend, while the sci-fi horror film "Companion" came in at a far second place. As February kicks in, December-January holdovers are still giving the box office a welcome boost.

Weekend Box Office: Mel Gibson's FLIGHT RISK Gives Lionsgate Its Second #1 Movie In 2025

The thriller "Flight Risk" directed by Mel Gibson and starring Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace, landed in first place, already giving Lionsgate a second #1 opener this year. Meanwhile, Steven Soderbergh's supernatural thriller "Presence" didn't make much of an impression, while Angel Studios' new wide release "Brave the Dark" failed to make it into the Top 10.

Weekend Box Office: WOLF MAN Mauled By MUFASA and ONE OF THEM DAYS Over MLK Frame

"Mufasa" still reigns over the box office and dominated the MLK holiday weekend, but it came close to losing that top spot to the newly released comedy "One of Them Days" starring Keke Palmer and SZA. The other new wide release, the Blumhouse horror film "Wolf Man" didn't do so well, finishing behind the two previously mentioned films.

The heist action thriller sequel "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" has overtaken both "Mufasa: The Lion King" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" to become Lionsgate's first #1 movie in over a year, thus breaking the studio's cold streak.

Weekend Box Office: MUFASA Beats SONIC 3 Over Christmas Frame While NOSFERATU Sets Record Breaking Debut

"Sonic the Hedgehog 3" and "Mufasa: The Lion King" dominated the Christmas box office and went toe to toe, but the Disney prequel ended up coming out on top over the 5-day weekend, while the video game movie topped the 3-day frame. Robert Eggers' horror remake "Nosferatu" pulled off a pleasant surprise. Meanwhile the Bob Dylan biopic "A Complete Unknown" scored a solid debut, while the sports drama "The Fire Inside" failed to attract moviegoers.
