The horror film
"The Blackcoat's Daughter" (originally titled
"February") is the directorial debut of writer/director
Oz Perkins (
"I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House"). The film was completed and premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2015, but its U.S. release was pushed back several times.
The film tells the story of two girls, played by
Kiernan Shipka and
Lucy Boynton, who get left behind at their boarding school over winter break when their parents mysteriously fail to pick them up, and begin to experience increasingly strange and creepy occurrences, while another girl (
Emma Roberts) is determined to get to Bramford as fast as she can.
Lauren Holly and
James Remar also star.
"The Blackcoat's Daughter" opened in theaters on March 31st 2017 and received generally positive reviews.
