Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast of the action comedy
"The Unbearable Weight of Massive", which is currently in production at Lionsgate.
The film will star Cage as a fictionalized version of himself who's creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, which leads him to accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a super fan played by
Pedro Pascal. When things take a wildly dangerous turn, Cage is forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved onscreen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones.
Harris will play Cage's talent agent in the movie. The cast also includes
Sharon Horgan as Cage's ex-wife, and
Tiffany Haddish as an eccentric rogue government agent who is in a long-standing battle against one of the largest criminal organizations in Europe and forces Cage to go undercover in a last-ditch effort to bring that organization down for good.
Tom Gormican (
"That Awkward Moment") will direct from a script co-written by Gormican and
"Desperate Housewives" and
"Workaholics" scribe
Kevin Etten.
Harris is also set to star in the fourth
"Matrix" movie opposite
Keanu Reeves and the limited series
"It's a Sin" for Channel 4 and HBO Max.
