"Terrifier" series writer/director Damien Leone is set to write, direct and produce a new horror film titled "Tortures of the Damned", which has just been picked up by Lionsgate. "Evil Dead", "Spider-Man" and "Send Help" filmmaker Sam Raimi has also joined the project as a producer alongside his partner Rob Tapert via their banner Ghost House.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it has been reported that the film will be different in tone from the "Terrifier" movies, and will have a bigger budget. Leone is currently in pre-production on "Terrifier 4". Scott O'Brien and Pavan Kalidindi will oversee "Tortures of the Damned" for Lionsgate. Romel Adam and Jose Cañas will oversee the project for Ghost House and executive produce.
Erin Westerman, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group said the following in a statement: "We're incredibly proud and excited to be partnering with Damien Leone on his first original film after the beloved 'Terrifier' series. Raimi will also direct and produce a remake of the horror classic "Magic" for Lionsgate.
