Weekend Box-Office: VENOM and A STAR IS BORN Dominate Second Weekend in a Row

The new wave of releases, which included the Neil Armstrong biopic "First Man" and the Halloween family adventure "Goosebumps 2", was not enough to take down "Venom" and "A Star is Born". Last week's #1 and #2 films continue to perform well, better than expected, actually, and dominate the box-office for a second consecutive weekend.

BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE Trailers, TV Spots, Clip, Featurettes, Images and Posters

Written, produced and directed by Drew Goddard ("The Cabin in the Woods"), the neo-noir mystery thriller "Bad Times at the El Royale" follows seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, who meet at the El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past, and over the course of one night get one last shot at redemption before all hell breaks loose. The cast features Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman and Chris Hemsworth.

"Bad Times at the El Royale" premiered at Fantastic Fest before being released in theaters on October 12, 2018. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and it's expected to score under $10 million in its opening weekend at the box-office.

In limited release, the drug addiction drama "Beautiful Boy" starring Timothee Chalamet and Steve Carell is worth a look.
