Full List of BAFTAS 2019 Nominations

The nominations for the 2019 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards have been announced. Yorgos Lanthimos' British satire "The Favourite" scored 12 nominations, including "Best Film" and nods for its three actresses Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone.

Other major contenders include "Bohemian Rhapsody", "First Man", "Roma" and "A Star is Born" with seven nominations each, "BlacKkKlansman" with five, and "Cold War" and "Green Book" with four apiece.

The BAFTAs will be handed out at London's Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, February 10, and the ceremony will be hosted once again by Joanna Lumley.

Weekend Box-Office: HALLOWEEN Scares Up Massive $77.5M Debut

The Jason Blum produced horror sequel/reboot "Halloween" dominated the weekend box-office and performed even better than expected. It also helped that there were no other new wide releases. The film's huge debut contributed to the second largest October weekend ever.

Weekend Box-Office: VENOM and A STAR IS BORN Dominate Second Weekend in a Row

The new wave of releases, which included the Neil Armstrong biopic "First Man" and the Halloween family adventure "Goosebumps 2", was not enough to take down "Venom" and "A Star is Born". Last week's #1 and #2 films continue to perform well, better than expected, actually, and dominate the box-office for a second consecutive weekend.

In Theaters: FIRST MAN, GOOSEBUMPS 2, BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE and BEAUTIFUL BOY

The Neil Armstrong biopic "First Man" starring Ryan Gosling and the fantasy adventure film "Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween" are now in theaters and competing to dominate the box-office against "Venom" and "A Star is Born". Another new wide release is the pulpy neo-noir thriller "Bad Times at the El Royale", which is getting pretty good reviews but its box-office expectations aren't very high. In limited release, the drug addiction drama "Beautiful Boy" starring Timothee Chalamet and Steve Carell is worth a look.

"First Man" is a biopic that chronicles the story of NASA's mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. The film is directed by Damien Chazelle ("La La Land") from a script by Josh Singer ("Spotlight") based on the book by James R. Hansen.

Ryan Gosling stars as Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the Moon in 1969. The film also stars Claire Foy, Corey Stoll, Pablo Schreiber, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Christopher Abbott, Patrick Fugit, Lukas Haas and Shea Whigham.

"First Man" premiered at the 2018 Venice Film Festival and was released in theaters on October 12, 2018. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, and it's expected to debut with around $21 million at the box-office.

• The biopic "First Man" based on astronaut Neil Armstrong's official biography by James R. Hansen. The film reunites "La La Land" director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling.
• The new installment in the "Halloween" franchise, excecutive-produced by John Carpenter (who also served as a creative consultant) and Jason Blum. The film is directed by David Gordon Green ("Pineapple Express") and it stars Jamie Lee Curtis, who reprises her role from the original series.

Ryan Gosling to Star as Neil Armstrong in Damien Chazelle's Biopic FIRST MAN

Ryan Gosling and director Damien Chazelle will team up once more following the success of the musical "La La Land", this time for a biopic that will chronicle Neil Armstrong's trip to the moon. Gosling's bid for the lead role has been a rumor floating in space since 2015, but now a deal has been reached and it's finally official. The film, titled "First Man", is based on the book "First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong" written by James Hansen, and it will follow the evolution of the space program between 1961 and 1969 that culminated with Armstrong's walk on the moon. The script will be written by "Spotlight" Oscar-winning co-writer Josh Singer. The film will be produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, better known for the "Twilight" and "Maze Runner" franchises.

And here's the synopsis for the book "First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong":

"Marking the forty-fifth anniversary of Apollo 11’s moon landing, First Man by James Hansen offers the only authorized glimpse into the life of America’s most famous astronaut, Neil Armstrong—the man whose “one small step” changed history. “The Eagle has landed.”

When Apollo 11 touched down on the moon’s surface in 1969, the first man on the moon became a legend. In First Man, Hansen explores the life of Neil Armstrong. Based on over fifty hours of interviews with the intensely private Armstrong, who also gave Hansen exclusive access to private documents and family sources, this “magnificent panorama of the second half of the American twentieth century” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) is an unparalleled biography of an American icon.
