Oscar Winners 2019: The Complete List

The Oscars have come and gone. As in previous years, the Academy focused on rewarding and celebrating diversity, while the show itself, its first without a host, was probably the most economical and well-paced in a very long time. It was also somewhat dull and uneventful, with the occasional cringe-inducing moment, but generally headed in the right direction. The Academy also made the effort to give every single one of the eight Best Picture nominees a win this year, something that also happened only once before, in 2015.

In such a divisive year it was "Green Book" that took home the Best Picture trophy, as well as Best Original Screenplay and Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali). Alfonso Cuaron's Netflix drama "Roma" also won three trophies for Best Foreign Language Film, Directing and Cinematography. The Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" won the most awards of the night with three technical categories (Editing, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing) and a big one for Leading Actor (Rami Malek).

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the evening, Olivia Colman won Leading Actress for her role in "The Favourite", beating out 7-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close. In the Supporting Actress, things went pretty much as expected, with Regina King winning for her performance in "If Beale Street Could Talk".

BAFTA Awards 2019 Winners: The Complete List

The big winners at the 2019 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards were "Roma" and "The Favorurite". Alfonso Cuaron's black-and-white Netflix film won Best Film, Film Not in the English Language, Director and Cinematography, while the British period drama, which entered the competition with 12 nods, ended up with seven trophies, including wins for two of its actresses, Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz.

DGA Awards 2019 Winners : The Complete Winners List

The winners of the 71st annual Directors Guild of America Awards have been announced. Alfonso Cuaron took home the feature directing award for "Roma", while Bo Burnham won for his directorial debut "Eighth Grade". In the television categories, the winners include Adam Mckay for the dramatic series "Succession" and Bill Hader for the comedy series "Barry".

Oscar Nominations 2019: The Complete List

The Oscar nominations are finally here and we now have the complete list for all 24 categories of the 91st Academy Awards. The nominations were announced by Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross on Tuesday morning.

The eight movies nominated for Best Picture include "Black Panther", "BlacKkKlansman", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "The Favourite", "Green Book", "Roma", "A Star is Born" and "Vice". The most nominated films are "The Favourite" and "Roma" with 10 nods apiece, followed by "A Star is Born", "Vice" and "Black Panther" with eight each.

The winners of the 91st Annual Academy Awards will be announced live on Sunday, February 24th, at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on ABC. And, from the looks of it, the Oscars will probably not have a host, for the first time ever.

Directors Guild Awards 2019 Nominees

The nominations for the 2019 Directors Guild awards have been announced. "A Star is Born" and "BlacKkKlansman" have strengthened their positions in the Oscar race with top nods from all guilds: DGA, WGA, PGA and SAG. The former scored two DGA nominations for Bradley Cooper, who also received a first-time director nod, while the latter scored filmmaker Spike Lee his first-ever DGA nomination.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" was left out, most likely due to the behind-the-scenes troubles that led to Bryan Singer being replaced by Dexter Fletcher before production wrapped. Other nominees include "Roma", "Green Book" and "Vice".

The small-screen nominees include "The Americans", "Atlanta", "Ozark", "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", "Barry", "Who is America?", "Escape at Dannemora" and "The Handmaid's Tale".

Writers Guild Awards 2019 Nominees

The Writers Guild of America has announced the nominees for their 2019 awards. The feature film contenders include "A Quiet Place", "Green Book", "Eighth Grade", "Roma", "Vice", "A Star is Born", "Can You Ever Forgive Me ?", "If Beale Street Could Talk" and "Black Panther". In the television categories, we find "The Americans", "The Handmaid's Tale", "Succession", "Atlanta", "GLOW" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel".

The winners will be honored at the 2019 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 17th.

Producers Guild Awards 2019 Nominees

The nominations for the 2019 Producers Guild Awards have been announced. The 10 films nominated for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award are "BlacKkKlansman", "Black Panther", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Crazy Rich Asians", "The Favourite", "Green Book", "A Quiet Place", "Roma", "A Star is Born", and "Vice".

Major overlooks include "Can You Ever Forgive Me?", "Eight Grade", "First Man", "First Reformed", and "If Beale Street Could Talk".

The nominees for Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures are "The Grinch", "Incredbiles 2", "Isle of Dogs", "Ralph Breaks the Internet", and "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse".

In the television categories we find "The Americans", "Better Call Saul", "The Handmaid's Tale", "Ozark" and "This is Us" nominated for drama series, and "Atlanta", "Barry", "GLOW", "The Good Place", and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" for comedy. The limited series nominated this year are "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story", "Escape at Dannemora", "Maniac", "The Romanoffs", and "Sharp Objects".

The winners of the 30th Annual Producers Guild Awards will be announced on January 19th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Full List of BAFTAS 2019 Nominations

The nominations for the 2019 British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards have been announced. Yorgos Lanthimos' British satire "The Favourite" scored 12 nominations, including "Best Film" and nods for its three actresses Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone.

Other major contenders include "Bohemian Rhapsody", "First Man", "Roma" and "A Star is Born" with seven nominations each, "BlacKkKlansman" with five, and "Cold War" and "Green Book" with four apiece.

The BAFTAs will be handed out at London's Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, February 10, and the ceremony will be hosted once again by Joanna Lumley.

Golden Globe Winners 2019: The Complete List

The winners of the 2019 Golden Globe awards have been announced, and as usual, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave us a couple of surprises. The biggest one is that "Bohemian Rhapsody", a huge box-office hit, but a movie that received lukewarm reviews when it was released, ended up winning Best Picture - Drama, and Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama (Rami Malek).

Meanwhile, "A Star is Born", which ranked high on everyone's list, walked away with just a Best Original Song win for "Shallow", and nothing for Lady Gaga or Bradley Cooper. "Green Book", a movie that has recently come under fire for certain biographical inaccuracies, won three awards for Best Picture - Musical/Comedy, Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and Screenplay.

Another big winner, this time less surprising, is Alfonso Cuaron, who won Best Director for his highly acclaimed film "Roma", and also Best Foreign Language Film.

In the television categories, "The Americans" finally received recognition with a Best Drama Series award. Other winners include Netflix's comedy series "The Kominsky Method" and FX's "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story".

Alfonso Cuaron's ROMA (2018) - Trailers, Featurettes, Images and Posters

Written, directed, produced, co-edited and photographed by Oscar winner Alfonso Cuaron ("Gravity"), the drama "Roma" is set in the 1970s and it chronicles a year in the life of Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighborhood of Roma in Mexico City. The film also stars Marina de Tavira, Fernando Grediaga, Jorge Antonio Guerrero and Marco Graf.

"Roma" premiered at the 75th Venice International Film Festival where it won the Golden Lion. It was released in select theaters on November 21, 2018 and began streaming on Netflix on December 14, 2018. The film is also nominated for three Golden Globes (Best Screenplay, Director and Foreign Language Film).

Classic Films on Blu-ray: December 13, 2016

This week we have some interesting new classic films and cult classics released on Blu-ray. First up are the Criterion Collection releases of "The Asphalt Jungle" and Federico Fellini's "Roma". Then we have the horror films "Dreamscape", "Black Christmas", "Creepshow 2", "The Driller Killersude", "Jack Frost", "Dracula Vs. Frankenstein" and the "Slime City/Slime City Massacre" double feature. Another highlight is the release of the 1986 cult classic "Man Facing Southeast", for the first time on DVD and Blu-ray in the United States. Other classics include the 1931 drama "Bad Girl" and the 1952 film-noir "Sudden Fear".
