2020 Emmy Nominations List: Netflix Breaks Record For Most Nominations in a Single Year

The Television Academy has announced the nominations for the 72nd Emmy Awards. Netflix dominated with 160 nods, including 13 for their acclaimed drama series "Ozark", while HBO landed 107 nominations, which include 26 nods for "Watchmen", the most nominated series of 2020. The second most nominated show is Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" with 20. Other series that scored multiple nods include "The Mandalorian", "Insecure" and "Schitt's Creek".

This year's ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 20 on ABC with Jimmy Kimmel set to host.

SAG Awards 2020 Nominations: The Complete List

The nominations for the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced Wednesday morning. In the film categories, the major contenders are Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman", and Jay Roach's "Bombshell" with 4 nods a piece. The Korean satire "Parasite" was nominated for best ensemble, becoming only the second foreign-language film to earn a best cast SAG Awards nomination.

On the TV side, last year's comedy winner, Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" leads the pack with four nominations. Meanwhile, "Fleabag", "The Crown", "Stranger Things", "The Morning Show" and "The Kominsky Method" scored three nods each.

Overall Netflix came out on top with 20 nods, including seven for motion pictures, followed by HBO with 10 nominations and Amazon with seven.

Robert De Niro will receive a Life Achievement Award for his work on screen and humanitarian accomplishments.

The 26th annual SAG Awards will air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Emmys 2019: Complete List of Nominations

The nominations for the 71st Annual Emmy Awards have been announced. Predictably, HBO's "Game of Thrones" dominated with a record-breaking 32 nominations, the most nominations for a single season of any show in history, despite the general consensus of both critics and fans that the show's eighth and final season was anything but stellar. If you're wondering, the previous single-season nominations record was held by the first season of ABC's "NYPD Blue", with 27 nods.

Among its many nominations, the most notable include Outstanding Drama Series (its eighth), Writing, three for Direction, and no less than 10 nods for its cast, including Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Gwendoline Christie, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Alfie Allen, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage and Carice van Houten. Did I leave anyone out ? Hope not. Let's move on.

Another major contender is Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" with 20 nominations. Other shows that picked up a handful of nominations include "Pose", "Killing Eve", "Succession" and "This Is Us". In the Limited Series category, HBO's "Chernobyl" leads the pack with 19 nominations, followed by FX's "Fosse/Verdon" with 17 and and Netflix's "When They See Us" with 16.

"Big Little Lies" and "Stranger Things" failed to secure any nominations.

The 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out on Sunday, September 22, and the show will air live on Fox at 5 p.m. PT from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. A host has not yet been announced.

The winners of the 25th Screen Actors Guild awards have been revealed during a telecast hosted by Megan Mullally in Los Angeles on Sunday. The big winner this year is "Black Panther", which took home Best Cast in a Motion Picture and Stunt Ensemble. Meanwhile, Glenn Close won Best Female Actor in a Leading Role for her work in the drama "The Wife", and Rami Malek scored a trophy for his performance as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody".

In the TV categories, the winners include "Killing Eve", "Escape at Dannemora", "This is Us", "Ozark" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel".

Producers Guild Awards 2019 Winners

The big winner at this year's Producers Guild Awards is Peter Farrelly's drama "Green Book". The film overcame a wave of attacks and accusations and triumphed over Spike Lee's "BlacKkKlansman", Bradley Cooper's "A Star is Born" and Alfonso Cuaron's "Roma". This also places the film as the top contender in the Best Picture Oscar race as the PGA's Darryl F. Zanuck award has been a correct predictor for the Oscars in 20 out of 29 years. In the television categories, the winners include "The Americans", "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and "The Assassination of Gianni Versace". Also, Jane Fonda received the Stanley Kramer Award for her lifetime achievements, activism and philanthropy.

Directors Guild Awards 2019 Nominees

The nominations for the 2019 Directors Guild awards have been announced. "A Star is Born" and "BlacKkKlansman" have strengthened their positions in the Oscar race with top nods from all guilds: DGA, WGA, PGA and SAG. The former scored two DGA nominations for Bradley Cooper, who also received a first-time director nod, while the latter scored filmmaker Spike Lee his first-ever DGA nomination.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" was left out, most likely due to the behind-the-scenes troubles that led to Bryan Singer being replaced by Dexter Fletcher before production wrapped. Other nominees include "Roma", "Green Book" and "Vice".

The small-screen nominees include "The Americans", "Atlanta", "Ozark", "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", "Barry", "Who is America?", "Escape at Dannemora" and "The Handmaid's Tale".

In the television categories, the leaders of the pack are "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and "Ozark" with four nominations apiece, followed by "Barry", "GLOW", "The Handmaid's Tale" and "The Kominsky Method" with three nominations each.

The 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards winners will be announced on January 27th in a ceremony that will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS.

The second season of the period comedy series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" has been released by Amazon on December 5, 2018. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a Jewish housewife in the 1950s who decides to become a stand-up comic. The second season finds Midge confronted with more challenges as she climbs up the stand-up world, while trying to find a way to tell her family about what she is really doing.

The cast also includes Alex Borstein, Michael Zegen, Tony Shalhoub, Marin Hinkle, Kevin Pollak and Nunzio Pascale. Emmy 2018: The Complete Winners List

The winners of the 2018 Emmys have been decided and there were some interesting surprises here and there. Monday's ceremony announced the winners for the major awards, while the so-called Creative Arts Emmys were handed out last week. The ceremony itself was widely regarded as lackluster and criticized. Hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost, both SNL stars and writers, caught most of the flak.

The big news is that Netflix and HBO were tied for wins, 23 each to be exact, but the latter ultimately bagged the big one, Best Drama Series, for their never-ending blockbuster "Game of Thrones", leaving the streaming network still pining for a major win in either drama or comedy. "Game of Thrones" won the most awards of the night, nine in total from both ceremonies. Netflix's biggest wins were for their drama series "The Crown" which scored Directing and Lead Actress (Claire Foy).

Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" became the first streaming series to win Best Comedy, and it also picked up trophies for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Rachel Brosnahan) and Supporting Actress (Alex Borstein), while the show's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, took home no less than four Emmys for Directing, Writing, Music Supervision, and, of course, Comedy Series.

FX also had a pretty good evening with the long-overlooked series "The Americans" taking home two major awards for Writing and Lead Actor (Matthew Rhys), and their limited series "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" brought home no less than seven awards including Best Limited Series, Directing and Lead Actor (Darren Criss). The network's comedy series "Atlanta", which had 16 nominations and was considered a frontrunner walked away with only two Emmys for Guest Actor (Katt Williams) and Cinematography.
