The cast also includes Taron Egerton and Eric Bana. "Apex" premiered on April 24, 2026 on Netflix.

"Adrift" is a shipwreck-at-sea drama directed by Baltasar Kormákur ("Everest") from a screenplay written by Aaron Kandell & Jordan Kandell ("Moana") and David Branson Smith ("Ingrid Goes West").

The film tells the true story of a couple, played by Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin, who get stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean during one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. Grace Palmer, Jeffrey Thomas and Elizabeth Hawthorne co-star.

"Adrift" opened in theaters on June 1, 2018 and received mixed to positive reviews from critics. The film is expected to gross around $15 million in its opening weekend.

Five new clips for the mountain-climbing drama "Everest" have been released. The true story drama opens today in theaters and the critical reception indicates that while the narrative technique is somewhat underwhelming, the spectacle is heart-stopping and the drama is not as "Hollywood" as you might expect. Directed by Baltasar Kormakur ("2 Guns"), the film stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington, Robin Wright, Emily Watson, Martin Henderson, Michael Kelly, Elizabeth Debicki, Naoko Mori and Keira Knightley.

A new trailer, 9 featurettes and poster for "Everest" have been released online. The fact-based mountain-climbing drama directed by Baltasar Kormakur ("2 Guns") has received some good reviews and although most critics noted that it's somewhat lacking in the character department, it does indeed offer a spectacular drama unline any other Everest movie before it. The featurettes offer great insight into the making of this movie and acquaint us with the protagonists of the story.

The film stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington, Robin Wright, Emily Watson, Martin Henderson, Michael Kelly, Elizabeth Debicki, Naoko Mori and Keira Knightley.

EVEREST Behind-the-Scenes Featurette

The first behind-the-scenes featurette for the fact-based mountain climbing drama "Everest" has been released. The film is directed by Baltasar Kormakur ("2 Guns") from a script by Mark Medoff ("Children of a Lesser God") and Simon Beaufoy ("127 Hours"), and it documents the journey of two different Everest expeditions that become trapped on the mountain by one of the fiercest snowstorms in history.

The featurette offers a quick look at the making of this spectacular-looking movie and a particular highlight is the fact that it was all filmed on location in Nepal on real mountains which should keep the CGI to a minimum. Of course, I don't expect every stunt in the movie to be executed in real conditions, because obviously the movie will feature some uniquely dangerous situations, so I assume there will be plenty of visual effects in the finished film. Anyway, it will definitely look gorgeous in IMAX.

The film stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington, Robin Wright, Emily Watson and Keira Knightley.

Keira Knightley Joins Baltasar Kormakur's EVEREST

Keira Knightley has signed on for director Baltasar Kormakur's ("2 Guns") true story drama "Everest". The film focuses on two rival expeditions caught in a blizzard on the mountain, and Knightley will play "Jan Arnold, widow of climber Rob Hall, who conquered the mountain five times." Kormakur has been filming for one month, already, in Nepal and the Italian Alps, and the film is currently in post-production. Knightley will be shooting her scenes at Pinewood Studios and around the Home Counties. The film also stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly, Thomas M. Wright, Sam Worthington and Robin Wright. Shot in 3D and IMAX 3D, "Everest" will be released in theaters on September 18, 2015.

2 GUNS Red Band Trailer and 6 Movie Clips

Today we have a new red-band trailer (via IGN) as well as six movie clips (via Collider) for the action film "2 Guns". The film is directed by Baltasar Kormakur ("Contraband") and it stars Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg as DEA and U.S. naval intelligence agents, respectively, who end up on the run after a botched mission. Kormakur has stated that the film is a "pulpy comic adaptation that's probably closer to 48 Hrs. than Bad Boys.". Sounds good to me. The film also stars Paul Patton, Bill Paxton, Edward James Olmos and James Marsden. "2 Guns" opens on August 2, 2013.

Trailer and Poster for 2 GUNS Starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg

The first trailer for Baltasar Kormakur's "2 Guns" is finally here. The film stars Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg as two government agents (DEA and U.S. naval intelligence) who end up on the run after a failed mission. "2 Guns" feels like a 1980s action flick, blending furious action with humor resulting from the opposing personalities of the two protagonists. Wahlberg and Washington interact well together and there's some funny dialogue in the trailer. The film also stars Paul Patton, Bill Paxton, Edward James Olmos and James Marsden. "2 Guns" opens on August 2, 2013.

Christian Bale to Star in Baltasar Kormakur's EVEREST

Christian Bale is set to star in the true story adventure movie "Everest", which is based on a catastrophic mountain expedition which took place in 1996 and resulted in the death of eight climbers. The movie is directed by Baltasar Kormakur ("Contraband") and Bale will play the lead role of Rob Hall, the leader of a New Zealander group who ran Adventure Consultants. Kormakur has stated in an interview that this will be "a very, very big movie with a medium budget." Indeed the movie has a budget of $20 million, but Kormakur has never been a big budget director and his movies usually look great. Production begins this summer and filming will take place in Iceland.
