Weekend Box-Office: BARBARIAN and BRAHMASTRA PART ONE: SHIVA Dominate Second Lowest Weekend of 2022

The horror film "Barbarian" and the Indian Hindi-language action-adventure "Brahmastra Part One: Shiva" prevailed at the box-office during the lowest domestic weekend since January. Both movies came in slightly higher than anticipated.

Weekend Box-Office: SPIDER-MAN NO WAY HOME Re-Release Leads Labor Day Frame

The 2022 Labor Day weekend box-office received a serious boost from National Cinema Day, an event that brought 8.1 million moviegoers to theaters, a record number for 2022, with the help of heavily discounted $3 tickets. More than 3,000 theaters across the country, including major chains, participated in the event and charged just $3 for admission to any movie in any format, including IMAX, 3D, D-Box, and ScreenX. The one-day event brought in $24.3 million.

However, the weekend was still lacking in terms of new releases, and earnings were pretty low throughout. So much so, that the re-release of Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" topped the charts this weekend.

Weekend Box-Office: DRAGON BALL SUPER - SUPER HERO Pulls Off No.1 Debut While BEAST Comes in 2nd

Sony/Crunchyroll's anime film "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" dominated the weekend box-office, while Universal's survival thriller "Beast" starring Idris Elba scored a modest second place debut.

Weekend Box-Office: BULLET TRAIN Repeats at #1 With $13 Million

With no major new wide releases, the Brad Pitt starrer "Bullet Train" dominated the box-office in its second weekend. Semi-wide new releases "Fall" and "Mack & Rita" failed to find an audience. Also, this ended up being the lowest grossing weekend to date this summer.

Weekend Box-Office: BULLET TRAIN Arrives With $30 Million Debut

Sony's new R-rated action comedy "Bullet Train" scored a decent debut, defying predictions that expected it to disappoint. Universal's family comedy "Easter Sunday" also opened this weekend, but couldn't find much of an audience.

Weekend Box-Office: DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS Scores $23 Million Debut

As the summer season begins to slow down, Warner Bros' animated film "DC League of Super-Pets" topped the weekend box-office, but didn't exactly score an impressive debut. "The Office" writer/executive producer/director/actor BJ Novak's feature directorial debut "Vengeance" also opened in semi-wide release, with mixed result.

"DC League of Super-Pets" is an animated superhero comedy directed by Jared Stern from a script co-written by Stern and John Whittington. The voice cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Thomas Middleditch, Ben Schwartz and Keanu Reeves. The film opened in theaters on July 29, 2022.
