Dumplin' is a comedy directed by Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal") from a script by Kristin Hahn (the 1997 documentary "Anthem") based on the novel of the same name written by Julie Murphy.

The film tells the story of plus-size teenager Willowdean Dickson (Danielle Macdonald), nicknamed "Dumplin" by her mother (Jennifer Aniston) who was a former beauty queen. Willowdean signs up for her mom's pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town. Odeya Rush, Maddie Baillio, Harold Perrineau and Kathy Najimy co-star.

The film also features six new songs written and performed by country star Dolly Parton, and six re-recordings of her older hits. She is joined on soundtrack by Elle King, Miranda Lambert, Mavis Staples, Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Sia, Macy Gray and Willa Amai.
