BIG LITTLE LIES Season 3 Officially In The Works

A third season of HBO's drama series "Big Little Lies" is officially in the works. "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" co-creator Francesca Sloane has boarded the project to write the first episode and executive produce the new season. Sloane will executive produce along with David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman, and Reese Witherspoon.

Kidman and Witherspoon will return to lead the cast. Sloane has signed a two-year overall deal at HBO. Kidman revealed as far back as 2023 that a third season could be happening, but nothing had been officially confirmed until now.

"Big Little Lies" first aired in 2017 as a limited series based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, but due to its huge success, including winning 8 Emmys, HBO announced that the show would return for a second season. The cast also included Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling, with Meryl Streep joining the ensemble in Season 2.

A sequel novel is due to be published in 2026. Meanwhile, it was recently announced that filming on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" Season 2 at Amazon Prime Video had been delayed indefinitely.

"The Last Anniversary" is an Australian series directed by John Polson and written by Samantha Strauss based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty ("Big Little Lies").

The series follows Sophie Honeywell (Teresa Palmer), who inherits a house from her ex's great aunt and becomes entangled with the family's secrets. It's a mystery that touches on family matters, motherhood and those women whose legacy defines the generations that blossom after them. The cast also includes Miranda Richardson, Danielle Macdonald, Helen Thomson, Susan Prior, Claude Scott-Mitchell, Charlie Garber, Uli Latukefu and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor.

"The Last Anniversary" premiered in Australia on Binge on March 27, 2025 and in the US on Sundance Now/AMC+ on March 30, 2025. It is also available via Apple TV+ and Prime Video.

BIG LITTLE LIES Season 2 Trailers, Images and Posters

The second season of HBO's acclaimed drama series "Big Little Lies" has premiered on June 9, 2019. Created by David E. Kelley, the seven-episode show is based on Liane Moriarty's novel of the same name. Initially set up as a film based on Moriarty's novel, the project evolved into a limited series, and later on into a multi-season series following its success. The cast features Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern, Adam Scott and James Tupper. Oscar winner Meryl Streep joins the cast for the second season. Andrea Arnold takes over directing duties from Jean-Marc Vallee.

Nicole Kidman to Star in Hulu Series NINE PERFECT STRANGERS

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is reteaming with "Big Little Lies" creator and screenwriter David E. Kelley for the upcoming Hulu drama series "Nine Perfect Strangers". Based on author Liane Moriarty's 2018 novel of the same name, the show is a satirical thriller set at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation to nine stressed city dwellers. But their peaceful ten-day stay takes a turn for the wild. Moriarty also authored "Big Little Lies".

Kidman is set to star as the resort's director Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate tired minds and bodies. Kelley will co-write and serve as co-showrunner alongside "Edge of Tomorrow" writer John Butterworth. The series is expected to premiere in late 2020.

Kidman and Kelley will also work together on the HBO miniseries "The Undoing", based on the novel "You Should Have Known" by Jean Hanff Korelitz.

BIG LITTLE LIES Trailers, Images and Posters

The new HBO miniseries "Big Little Lies" premieres on HBO tonight at 9p, so here are the official trailers, images and posters released so far.

The seven episode series is produced by David E. Kelley based on the novel "Big Little Lies" by Liane Moriarty, and it tells the tale of three mothers of seven-years-old children, played by Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley, whose apparently perfect lives unravel in a series of events that culminate with murder.

The cast also includes Alexander Skarsgard, Laura Dern, Adam Scott and Zoe Kravitz. Every episode is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée ("Dallas Buyers Club", "Wild").

Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon Team Up for BIG LITTLE LIES

Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are joining forces to produce and star in the comedy "Big Little Lies". The film is based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name by Liane Moriarty and it "tells the comic tale of three mothers of kindergartners whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder." The film is aimed at a 2017 release, but it's quite early for a definitive schedule. Kidman is currently working on the drama "The Family Fang" directed by and co-starring Jason Bateman and can also be seen this year in the family film "Paddington", the biopic "Queen of the Desert" and the mystery thriller "Before I Go to Sleep". Witherspoon has three films coming out this year, the true story dramas "Wild" and "The Good Lie", and Paul Thomas Anderson's new film "Inherent Vice".
