Adele To Make Acting Debut In Tom Ford's CRY TO HEAVEN Based On Anne Rice's Novel

English singer-songwriter Adele has signed on to star in the upcoming thriller "Cry to Heaven" written and directed by Tom Ford ("Nocturnal Animals", "A Single Man") based on the Anne Rice ("Interview With the Vampire") novel of the same name. The film is currently in pre-production in London and Rome. Filming will begin in mid-January, and it's expected to be released late autumn 2026.

Set in 18th century Italy, the novel follows the paths of two unlikely collaborators: a Venetian noble and a castrated singer from Calabria, both trying to succeed in the world of the opera. The story touches on themes of identity, betrayal, love and the pursuit of artistic and personal freedom.

The cast also includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannemann and Lux Pascal.

Ford is also producing through his Fade To Black production company. The filmmaker is self-financing the project, with plans to take it out to market after production has ended. The former Gucci and YSL creative director sold his Tom Ford fashion label to the Estée Lauder Companies for $2.8 billion in 2023.

NINE PERFECT STRANGERS Season 2 Trailer, Images and Poster

The second season of the anthology drama series "Nine Perfect Strangers" has premiered on May 21, 2025 on Hulu. The show was created by David E. Kelley based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty. The second season follows nine new strangers who join a transformational wellness retreat in the Austrian Alps run by mysterious guru, Masha Dmitrichenko (Nicole Kidman).

The new season's esnemble cast includes Murray Bartlett, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Dolly de Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, King Princess, Aras Aydin, Lucas Englander, Henry Golding, Mark Strong and Lena Olin.

"Cruella" is a crime comedy directed by Craig Gillespie ("I, Tonya") from a script by Dana Fox ("What Happens in Vegas") and Tony McNamara ("The Great", "The Favourite") based on the character Cruella de Vil from the 1956 novel "The Hundred and One Dalmatians" by Dodie Smith and Disney's 1961 animated adaptation. The film was released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Acces on May 28, 2021.

TEMPLE Series Trailer, Images and Poster

"Temple" is a medical crime drama series created by Mark O'Rowe based on the Norwegian drama "Valkyrien".

The show stars Mark Strong as a highly respected surgeon, who is determined to save his dying wife (Catherine McCormack) to the point of agreeing to run an illegal medical clinic for criminals and other desperate patients in a labyrinth of abandoned service tunnels below Temple Underground Station. The cast also includes Carice Van Houten, Daniel Mays, Lily Newmark and Tobi King Bakare.

"Temple" premiered on September 13, 2019 on Sky One in the U.K., and on October 26, 2020 on Spectrum Originals in the U.S. The series has been renewed for a second season.

"1917" is a war drama directed, co-written and produced by Sam Mendes. The film is based in part on an account told to Mendes by his paternal grandfather, Alfred Mendes, and it chronicles the story of two young British soldiers during the First World War who are given an impossible mission: to deliver a message deep in enemy territory that will stop 1,600 men, and one of the soldiers' brothers, from walking straight into a deadly trap.

The ensemble cast features Dean-Charles Chapman, George MacKay, Daniel Mays, Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, Colin Firth, Claire Duburcq, Adrien Scarborough, Jamie Parker and Richard McCabe.

The film has won two Golden Globes this year for Best Picture and Director, and has received nine BAFTA nominations, including Best Film.

"1917" opened in select theaters in the U.S. on December 25, 2019. It will expand nationwide on January 10, 2020, and on the same day it will also be released in the U.K.

The second season of the espionage thriller series "Deep State" has premiered on April 28, 2019 on Epix. Created by Simon Maxwell and Matthew Parkhill, the show stars Mark Strong as Max Easton, an ex-spy whose past comes back to haunt him as he is recruited back into the field. The second season introduces ex-CIA agent Nathan Miller (Walton Goggins) who is drawn into a political crisis in Mali. The cast also includes Karima McAdams, Joe Dempsie, Lyne Renee, Anastasia Griffith and Alistair Pete.

The superhero film "Shazam!" is the seventh installment in the DC Extended Universe, and it's directed by David F. Sandberg ("Lights Out", "Annabelle: Creation") from a script by Henry Gayden ("Earth to Echo").

The protagonist is a streetwise fourteen-year-old foster kid (Asher Angel), who can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), a power bestowed to him by an ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou) who was seeking a successor. The film also stars Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton and Cooper Andrews.

"Shazam!" opened in theaters on April 5, 2019 and received mostly positive reviews from critics.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth Join Sam Mendes' World War I Drama 1917

Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Firth have joined the cast of Sam Mendes' World War I drama "1917". The ensemble cast will also include Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman and Richard Madden.

The film will follow two young British soldiers, played by MacKay and Chapman, on a single day at the height of World War I in 1917. The war ended on November 11, 1918. Mendes will direct from a script he co-wrote with Krysty Wilson-Cairns ("Penny Dreadful"). The filmmaker will also produce with Jayne-Ann Tenggren and Callum McDougall. Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners is producing through DreamWorks Pictures.

Production is set to begin on April 1 in England and Scotland. "1917" will receive a limited release on December 25, 2019, and will expand nationwide two weeks later on January 10, 2020.

THE CATCHER WAS A SPY Trailer, Interviews, Images and Poster

"The Catcher Was a Spy" is a biopic directed by Ben Lewin ("The Sessions") based on the novel of the same name written by Nicholas Dawidoff. The script was written by Robert Rodat ("Saving Private Ryan").

The film tells the true story of Moe Berg (Paul Rudd), a major league baseball player, who is recruited by the Office of Strategic Services (the precursor to the CIA) to help defeat the Nazis in the race to build the first atomic bomb. Mark Strong, Connie Nielsen, Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce, Jeff Daniels, Paul Giamatti, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shea Whigham, Tom Wilkinson, Giancarlo Giannini and Jeff Daniels co-star.

The Catcher Was a Spy" premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was released in select theaters on June 22, 2018. The film received mostly negative reviews from critics.

Created by Simon Maxwell and Matthew Parkhill, the eight-part British series "Deep State" stars Mark Strong as a former MI6 field agent who is called back for one last job, only to discover that he has become a pawn in a conspiracy to cause havoc in the Middle East. Joe Dempsie, Karima McAdams, Lyne Renee, Anastasia Griffith and Alistair Petrie co-star.

"Deep State" will premiere on June 17, 2018 in the U.S. on Epix at 9p.

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is a sequel to the 2014 comic book adaptation "Kingsman: The Secret Service". Co-written, produced and directed by Matthew Vaughn ("Kick-Ass"), the films are based on the comic book series "Kingsman" created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar.

The sequel finds the first film's protagonist, Eggsy Unwin (Taron Egerton), and the highly secretive intelligence agency Kingsman going up against a ruthless new threat, and their only hope is to join forces with their U.S. counterpart, the Statesman.

The cast also includes Colin Firth (back from the dead), Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Elton John, Michael Gambon and Hanna Alström

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" opened in theaters on September 22nd, 2017 and received mixed reviews from critics who concluded that while the original's offbeat charm is still present, it's just a "more is more" kind of sequel. The film opened with $39 million at the box-office, but has since slowed down considerably and is now trailing behind its predecessor domestically, while internationally it has grossed a solid $178.1 million, so far.
