Omari Hardwick Joins Gerard Butler & Hayley Atwell In Hostage Thriller EMPIRE CITY

Omari Hardwick ("Power", "Army of the Dead") is set to join the cast of the upcoming action thriller "Empire City". Filming is currrently underway in Melbourne, Australia. Directed by Michael Matthews ("Love and Monsters") from a script by Brian Tucker ("Secret Invasion") and S. Craig Zahler ("Bone Tomahawk"), the film stars Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell.

The film focuses on a hostage crisis that erupts inside New York's Clybourn Building, and it follows Rhett (Butler), a firefighter who, alongside his squad and his NYPD wife Dani (Atwell), must fight and navigate his way through the building to rescue captives trapped inside. Hardwick will play Hawkins, the film's antagonist.

The cast also includes Mel Jarnson ("Mortal Kombat") as Hawkins' right-hand operative, Leda, as well as Tre Hale ("Platonic"), Michael Beach ("Mayor of Kingstown"), Dominic Bogart ("American Primeval"), Stephen Murphy ("The Odyssey"), and Jack DiFalco ("Daredevil") as Rhett's squad members. Kaiwi Lyman ("Den Of Thieves") also stars in a supporting role.

"Empire City" is produced by Marc Butan ("Plane"), Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel ("Paris Has Fallen"), and Paul Currie ("Hacksaw Ridge").

Hardwick can next be seen in Prime Video's limited series "The Greatest" that chronicles Muhammad Ali's life and career. He is also set to star in the "Bosch" prequel series "Start Of Watch" for MGM+.

Cameron Monaghan To Star As Young Harry Bosch In Prequel Series BOSCH: START OF WATCH

MGM+ has greenlit a new series set in the Harry Bosch universe. Titled "Bosch: Start of Watch", the show is a prequel that explores the origin story of Michael Connelly's iconic detective originally portrayed by Titus Welliver. Produced by Fabel Entertainment, the series is co-created and executive produced by "Bosch: Legacy" co-developer/executive producer Tom Bernardo and co-executive producer Brian Anthony, with Bernardo serving as showrunner. Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin and Jasmine Russ also serve as executive producers. Theresa Snider co-executive produces for Hieronymus Pictures. Seth Yanklewitz is the casting director.

"Bosch: Start of Watch" stars Cameron Monaghan ("Shameless") as rookie cop Harry Bosch, and Omari Hardwick ("Power") will play his training officer, police veteran Eli Bridges, a new character not in the book mythology. The show is now based on any original source material since Connelly' novels do not include any origin stories for the character apart from bits and pieces from Harry's early years scattered across various books in the universe.

Set in 1991 Los Angeles, the new show follows 26-year-old Harry Bosch during his earliest days as a rookie cop. The series will explore a city on the edge, teeming with racial tension, gang violence and a fractured LAPD. Amid routine calls and growing unrest, Bosch finds himself drawn into a high-profile heist and a web of criminal corruption that will test his loyalty to the badge and shape his future as the detective who lives by the code "Everybody counts or nobody counts".

Harry Bosch, an intensely observant, stoic and unyielding young man, is a probationary patrol officer with the LAPD. He possesses all the qualities that will come to mark his legendary career: he’s smart, relentless, determined, fiercely protective of the victims of crime. Training Officer Bridges (Hardwick) is a Vietnam vet, a seasoned, salty, rough-around-the-edges kind of cop who mentors Harry through the mean streets of Los Angeles and the complicated world of the LAPD. Bridges is fighting a war on the streets and looking for soldiers, and they don’t come any brighter than Hieronymus Bosch.

"Bosch: Start of Watch" will film in Los Angeles, and it recently received a tax credit from the California Film Commission alongside the other Bosch spinoff series "Ballard", which is getting ready to film its second season. Submitted as "Project 2997 S1", it landed $11.6M credit on $33.2M qualified local expenditures.

"Star Trek: Section 31" is a sci-fi film directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi ("The Fourth Kind") from a script by Craig Sweeny ("Limitless", "The Code"). The film is a spinoff of the "Star Trek: Discovery" series, and it's set in the so-called "lost era", between "Star Trek: The Original Series" films and the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" series.

The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok,, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly González and James Hiroyuki Liao. "Star Trek: Section 31" premiered on January 24, 2025 on Paramount+.

"Army of the Dead" is an action horror film directed by Zack Snyder from a script he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold. Set in a post-zombie outbreak world, the film follows a group of mercenaries who take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

The cast features Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi and Garret Dillahunt.

The film was released in select theaters on May 14, 2021 and will begin streaming on May 21 via Netflix.

"Nobody's Fool" opened in theaters on November 2, 2018 and received mostly negative reviews from critics. The film is expected to gross around $14 million at the box-office in its opening weekend after bringing in $4.8 million on Friday.

Written and directed by Boots Riley, the sci-fi comedy "Sorry to Bother You" is set in an alternate present-day Oakland and it focuses on a telemarketer (Lakeith Stanfield), who discovers a magical key to professional success, which propels him into a macabre universe of "powercalling" that leads to material glory. Tessa Thompson, Jermaine Fowler, Omari Hardwick, Terry Crews, Patton Oswalt, David Cross, Danny Glover, Steven Yeun and Armie Hammer co-star.

"Sorry to Bother You" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2018, where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize, and was released in select theaters on July 6, 2018. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics.
