Adam Driver To Star In Hostage Drama Series RABBIT, RABBIT
Adam Driver has signed on to star in Netflix's upcoming drama series "Rabbit, Rabbit". The show, which has been described as in the vein of "Dog Day Afternoon", received a straight-to-series order. "The Town" and "Top Gun: Maverick" scribe Peter Craig is writing the series, while Philip Barantini ("Adolescence") will direct. Driver will also executive produce, and it could shoot as early as next year.

The series is set at a truck stop in southern Illinois. When an escaped convict is cornered by law enforcement at a truck stop, he takes hostages in an effort to bargain for his freedom. But the standoff soon escalates into an unmanageable social experiment with his captives, as well as an emotional poker match with a veteran FBI Crisis Negotiator trained in "tactical empathy".

It has been reported that the script was sent out using the Embershot software, where buyers can only read it through the app and it gives writers and their teams data as to when it was read and by whom. The service gained prominence after Zach Cregger revealed that he used it to send out the script for "Weapons". Apparently, Netflix grabbed the project in its early stages of it being taken out and handed it a straight-to-series order.

"Rabbit, Rabbit" is produced by MRC TV ("Ozark"), which has a first-look TV deal with Craig's Night Owl. Craig and Bryan Unkeless will executive produce for Night Owl, Barantini and Samantha Beddoe will executive produce for It's All Made Up Productions ("Boiling Point", "Wasteman").

"Blood Father" seems to be Mel Gibson's action comeback, according to the critics. It's essentially a B flick, and some have summed it up as "trash", but pretty much every review mentioned what a talented actor Gibson is and how he elevates the material. While not a major studio picture, this could still be the actor's chance to at least get some more genre parts.

Directed by Jean-Francois Richet ("Assault on Precinct 13", "Public Enemy #1", "Killer Instinct"), the film also stars Erin Moriarty, William H. Macy, Thomas Mann, Elisabeth Rohm, Diego Luna and Michael Parks.

"Blood Father" has begun a limited run in theaters.
