Odessa Young And Maria Cid In Talks To Join Heat 2

Odessa Young ("The Narrow Road to the Deep North", "Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere") and Maria Cid ("Eagle Knight") are in negotiations to join the cast of Michael Mann's sequel "Heat 2". Young is in talks for the role of Charlene, previously played by Ashley Judd in the 1995 original, while Cid is said to be Mann's top choice for Gabi, a new character who is the daughter of Neil McCauley's girlfriend in the sequel.

Mann will direct "Heat 2" from his own script based on his and Meg Gardiner's 2022 No. 1 New York Times bestselling novel. The iconic crime thriller "Heat" followed the cat-and-mouse game between master thief Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and LAPD detective Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino). "Heat 2" will function as both a sequel and a prequel, examining Hanna's Chicago years, McCauley's earlier criminal life, and the endeavours of Chris Shiherlis, played by Val Kilmer in the original, after surviving the 1995 film's botched bank robbery.

The cast already includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham and Jason Clarke. The sequel is produced by Mann, Jerry Bruckheimer, Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, Eric Roth and Shane Salerno. Amazon MGM will release the film in theaters.

Young recently wrapped production on the Netflix crime series "Rabbit, Rabbit" starring Adam Driver.

Christopher Abbott Adam Driver Inde Navarette Maya Boyd Join Marvels X Men Movie

A major casting update for Marvel's "X-Men" movie was revealed at Disney's D23 event in Anaheim. Christopher Abbott ("Poor Things", "Wolf Man") is on board to star as Charles Xavier aka Professor X, while Adam Driver will play the villainous Nathaniel Milbury aka Mister Sinister. Also joining the cast are "Obsession" breakout star Inde Navarette as Rogue, and stage actress Maya Boyd ("& Juliet") making her film debut as Ororo Munroe aka Storm.

The release date has also been revealed, and it's May 5, 2028. The film is directed by Jake Schreier ("Beef", "Thunderbolts", "Robot & Frank") from a script by Joanna Calo ("The Bear"), Lee Sung Jin ("Beef") and Michael Lesslie ("Macbeth", "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes").

Mister Sinister is a supervillain created by artist Marc Silvestri and writer Chris Claremont. The character first appeared as the employer of the Marauders in "The Uncanny X-Men" #212 (December 1986), and made his first full appearance in "The Uncanny X-Men" #221 (September 1987). He was voiced by Christopher Britton in "X-Men: The Animated Series", and by Clancy Brown in "Wolverine and the X-Men". The 2028 Marvel movie will be the character's live-action cinematic debut.

Mister Sinister is the persona of Dr. Nathaniel Essex, a London biologist in the 19th century. Inspired by the work of his contemporary Charles Darwin, he becomes obsessed with engineering humanity into a perfect race of superhumans. Following the death of his infant son and his wife Rebecca, Essex allies himself with Apocalypse, who uses Celestial technology to transform him into an ageless man with superpowers. Sinister develops a great interest towards the mutant heroes Cyclops and Jean Grey, believing their DNA can create the ultimate mutant. Later, the Krakoan Age storyline revealed that the original Mister Sinister was one of several clones of the original Nathaniel Essex; these other clones consist of Doctor Stasis, Orbis Stellaris, and Mother Righteous.

The cast also includes Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Kit Connor as Cyclops. Sadie Sink was already revealed as Jean Gray in the MCU movie "Spider-Man: Brand New Day", which is now in theaters.

Marvel's upcoming new projects include a "Ghost Rider" movie starring Ryan Gosling, and "Black Panther 3", which will star David Jonsson in the titular role as T'Challa's grown son in Black Panther 3. Both films will be released December 2028.

Adam Driver To Star In Hostage Drama Series RABBIT, RABBIT
Adam Driver has signed on to star in Netflix's upcoming drama series "Rabbit, Rabbit". The show, which has been described as in the vein of "Dog Day Afternoon", received a straight-to-series order. "The Town" and "Top Gun: Maverick" scribe Peter Craig is writing the series, while Philip Barantini ("Adolescence") will direct. Driver will also executive produce, and it could shoot as early as next year.

The series is set at a truck stop in southern Illinois. When an escaped convict is cornered by law enforcement at a truck stop, he takes hostages in an effort to bargain for his freedom. But the standoff soon escalates into an unmanageable social experiment with his captives, as well as an emotional poker match with a veteran FBI Crisis Negotiator trained in "tactical empathy".

It has been reported that the script was sent out using the Embershot software, where buyers can only read it through the app and it gives writers and their teams data as to when it was read and by whom. The service gained prominence after Zach Cregger revealed that he used it to send out the script for "Weapons". Apparently, Netflix grabbed the project in its early stages of it being taken out and handed it a straight-to-series order.

"Rabbit, Rabbit" is produced by MRC TV ("Ozark"), which has a first-look TV deal with Craig's Night Owl. Craig and Bryan Unkeless will executive produce for Night Owl, Barantini and Samantha Beddoe will executive produce for It's All Made Up Productions ("Boiling Point", "Wasteman").

Adam Driver Anne Hathaway To Star In Ron Howard Military Drama Alone At Dawn

Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway are on board to star in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios true story drama "Alone at Dawn", which is directed by Ron Howard ("Apollo 13", "A Beautiful Mind", "Thirteen Lives") from a script by Michael Russell Gunn. The film is based on the 2019 non-fiction book of the same name by Dan Schilling and Lori Chapman Longfritz. Amazon will release the film in theaters. The project falls under Amazon MGM's recently renewed first-look film deal with Brian Grazer and Howard's Imagine Entertainment.

The film tells the story of Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman, who fought to the death to save his fellow soldiers. Years later, an intelligence officer strives to prove his valor — leading an investigation that ultimately would secure him the Medal of Honor. Schilling is a military consultant on the movie and, like Chapman, was a Combat Control Technician. Chapman Longfritz is Chapman's sister. Driver, a former Marine himself, is set to play Chapman, while Hathaway will star as the intelligence officer.

Chapman was part of a SEAL Team Six mission during the war in Afghanistan in which helicopters were downed. He saved his comrades while sustaining multiple wounds and was inadvertently left for dead. During the night, Chapman came to and not only engaged in more fighting, despite being mortally wounded, he then fought more attackers when another U.S. chopper flew into the area. His actions saved numerous lives and years later a movement began to award him a Medal of Honor. A different branch of the military tried to quash the request, as it would have been admitting that the soldier had been left behind. Eventually and triumphantly, his Air Force Cross was upgraded with the honor.

Producers include Imagine Entertainment, The Hideaway Entertainment and Thruline Entertainment, in addition to Kristy Grisham, William Connor and Patrick Newall. Gunn will executive produce. Thruline Entertainment brought the "Alone at Dawn" manuscript to The Hideaway Entertainment, which optioned it in a heated bidding war before it became a New York Times bestseller. Following Gunn's adaptation, The Hideaway brought the project to Imagine Entertainment. Howard was so impressed by the story that he decided to direct the adaptation himself, and the project was soon set up at Amazon MGM and Erin Cressida Wilson ("The Girl on the Train", "Secretary") was hired for rewrites. Amy Herzog ("The Savant") also worked on the script.

Hathaway is currently filming "The Devil Wears Prada 2" and has completed filming on Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey". She can next be seen in David Lowery's "Mother Mary" based on the bestselling Colleen Hoover book. Earlier this year, she wrapped production for "Flowervale Street", which is set for release in 2026. Hathaway is also set to reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis in the third installment of "The Princess Diaries".

Driver can be seen in Jim Jarmusch's upcoming "Father Mother Sister Brother" and James Gray's "Paper Tiger".

Aubrey Plaza Photo

Aubrey Plaza ("Emily the Criminal", "Parks and Recreation") has joined the cast of Francis Ford Coppola's new film "Megalopolis". The filmmaker's passion project is independently financed, with a budget reportedly just under $100 million. Coppola also penned the script.

The contemporary drama is set in a modern world, haunted by the fate of Rome, unable to solve its own social problems, and it follows an architect who wants to rebuild New York City as a utopia, following a devastating disaster. The film has been described as an epic story of political ambition, genius and conflicted love.

The cast also includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight and Laurence Fishburne. Production is expected to begin this fall. No release date has been set.

Cinematographer Mihai Malaimare Jr. is also confirmed to reteam with Coppola, following "Youth Without Youth", "Tetro", "Twixt", and the live cinema experiment "Distant Vision".

In a recent interview, Coppola mentioned that the film is "a love story", and added the following:
"A woman is divided between loyalties to two men. But not only two men. Each man comes with a philosophical principle. One is her father who raised her, who taught her Latin on his lap and is devoted to a much more classical view of society, the Marcus Aurelius kind of view. The other one, who is the lover, is the enemy of the father but is dedicated to a much more progressive ‘Let’s leap into the future, let’s leap over all of this garbage that has contaminated humanity for 10,000 years. Let’s find what we really are, which are an enlightened, friendly, joyous species."
Plaza is also set to star in the second season of HBO's hit anthology series "The White Lotus".

Oscar nominee Adam Driver ("House of Gucci"), Oscar winner Penélope Cruz ("Parallel Mothers") and Emmy nominee Shailene Woodley ("Big Little Lies") have joined the cast of Michael Mann's passion project "Ferrari". STX nabbed worldwide rights to the film.

The big-budget biopic, which has been in the works for two decades, will tell the story of racing mogul Enzo Ferrari. Set during the summer of 1957, the film follows ex-racecar driver Ferrari, who is in crisis as bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their tempestuous marriage struggles with the mourning for one son and the acknowledgement of another. "Being able to have these wonderfully talented artists, actors Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley, bring to life these unique characters on location in Modena and the Emilia-Romagna is a vision fulfilled.".
