With no new major release in opening in theaters over the weekend, Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" had plenty of room to grow and no problem dominating the Top 10 with an impressively low sophomore drop. Two new wide or semi-wide releases did make it into the Top 10. The Broadway live-recording "Hadestown: The Musical", which has a five-day only theatrical run, scored an impressive weekend debut, while the action thriller "Motor City" starring Alan Ritchson failed to attract moviegoers.

"The Odyssey" is holding in first place with an impressive second weekend. The film raked in another $90 million, dropping just 27.1% in its sophomore frame from an already stellar debut. The movie simply continues to defy expectations. The R-rated film has now grossed a total of $289.3 million domestically and $362.6 million internationally. That's a worldwide total of 652 million in just two weeks. The film cost $250 million to produce, so it needed around $500-600 million to break even.
Disney's "Moana" live-action remake is also holding in second place, but isn't doing so well, overall. The film raked in $10.6 million over the weekend, dropping 40.7% from last week. The $250 million movie has only grossed $102.6 million in North America, and another $126.9 million from foreign markets, which adds up to $229.5 million worldwide.
"Hadestown: The Musical" made an impressive theatrical debut, opening in third place over the weekend with $10.2 million from 1,949 theaters. The Tony and Grammy-winning musical was recorded last year during three live performances, and was released in theaters for only five days.
"Toy Story 5" finished its sixth weekend in fourth place, grossing $10.1 million, which is a soft 26.2% decline. The film has crossed the $1 billion milestone, grossing $448.7 million domestically and another $575.2 million overseas.
The Top 5 is rounded out by another animated sequel, "Minions & Monsters" with $9.7 million, down just 28.3% from last week. After four weeks in theaters, the film has grossed $155.5 million in North America, and another $258.2 million internationally. That's a global cume of $413.7 million against an $85 million production budget.
In other news, IFC's action thriller "Motor City" opened in ninth place and only grossed $1.6 million from 1,600 theaters.
