Tom Holland To Star In Fred Astaire Biopic

"The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" star Tom Holland's next project has been confirmed to be a biographical drama focusing on iconic actor, dancer and singer Fred Astaire. The film was first announced five years ago, and the actor has revealed that he's already started rehearsing for the film.

Here's what Holland had to say about the project in a recent interview while promoting "The Odyssey" on "Good Morning America": "As soon as I finish with these tours, I'm diving back into the dance studio. I did my first few rehearsals recently, and it both filled me with excitement and absolute dread because I've got so much work to do to to try and do Fred proud".

The actor also added that he will not use doubles and intends to do all the dancing himself, "to shoot those dances in one shot – how [Astaire] would have done it".

Holland comes from a dancing background, having achieved his big break as the star of the "Billy Elliott the Musical" stage show that ran in London's West End from 2008 to 2010. The project will see Holland return to the central London dance studio in which he'd first rehearsed for "Billy Elliott".

During a separate appearance on "Live With Kelly and Mark", Holland reflected on stepping away from dance after Billy Elliot: "One of my biggest regrets in my career is after I finished Billy Elliot, I quit dancing. To have an opportunity to get to re-explore that world that I loved so much, that I owe so much to. I'm so excited for the challenge.".
