A new television series based on the life and career of iconic Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, is currently in the works from production company Lux Vide, which is part of the Fremantle Group, in collaboration with Armani's fashion house. The as-yet untitled show will be directed by Turkish-born Italy-based director Ferzan Ozpetek ("Diamonds", "The Ignorant Angels"), who is also co-writing the script alongside Lux Vide's head writer Francesco Arlanch ("Medici", "Hotel Costiera").
The series will explore the life and ambitions of Giorgio Armani, tracing the path of a man whose vision revolutionised the fashion industry and left an indelible mark on global culture. At its heart, the story is one of creativity, determination and passion: an intimate portrait of the entrepreneur, innovator and visionary who built one of the world's most admired luxury brands and created a timeless aesthetic recognised across generations and continents.
Ozpetek said the following in a statement: "I knew, admired and spent time with Giorgio for many years, both on official occasions and in more private settings. We talked about cinema, of which he was notably passionate and an expert. But also about art, costumes, architecture, and, I would say, life itself. I could see within him a visionary and a brilliant artist. But also a down-to-earth and very determined man. The opportunity to tell his story is both an exciting honor and a challenge that involves capturing the many facets of such a complex, original and captivating personality".
Fashion House Giorgio Armani has agreed to support the production, providing access to the House's archives, creations and iconic locations, offering an unparalleled insight into the world and legacy of one of fashion's most influential figures.
Lux Vide founder and president Matilde Bernabei said in a statement: "For years, Lux had been chasing the dream of telling the world the story of Giorgio Armani, an artist who invented a unique and recognizeable style, and a standard-bearer of Made in Italy who rewrote the rules of style and elegance. It will be an ambitious series, and we are proud to know that the market has immediately embraced this project with interest, enthusiastically confirming its international potential".
