"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" finished its third weekend in first place with $70.7 million, down 51% from the previous weekend. The film has now crossed the $2 billion worldwide, breaking the record for fastest to reach milestone, with $786.5 million from North America, and another $1.23 billion from international markets.
"The Odyssey" is holding in second place with $23.6 million, another soft 25.6% decline in its fifth weekend. The film's domestic total is now at $505 million, while overseas it raked in another $789.3 million for a global total of $1.29 billion, which makes it Christopher Nolan's biggest movie ever.
The sci-fi survival thriller "The End of Oak Street" opened in third place with $21 million from 3,446 theaters. Overseas, it adds another $26 million for a global total of $47 million. Unfortunately, the film cost around $90 million to produce, which means it would need to gross close to $200 million in order to break even. Critics mostly liked the film (85% on Rotten Tomatoes), but the audience reception was lukewarm ("B" CinemaScore).
PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie" made its debut in fourth place with $20.2 million from 3,545 screens. The film also grossed $48.5 million internationally, which brings its global debut to $68.7 million. The film only cost $40 million to produce, which means it should turn a profit as soon as it crosses the $80 million milestone. Both the critical and audience reception have been positive (82% on Rotten Tomatoes and "A" CinemaScore).
The documentary "Katseye: Wild Hearts" opened in fifth place with $3.9 million from 754 theaters, while "Six: The Musical Live" made its debut in sixth place with $3 million from 1,462 theaters.
Angel Studios' historical drama "The Brink of War" failed to make an impression, opening in seventh place with $2.6 million from 2,083 theaters. The film cost around $21 million to produce, which means it will lose money for the studio. Critics mostly liked the film (72% on Rotten Tomatoes), and moviegoers also enjoyed it ("A" CinemaScore).
In other news, the Indian Tamil-language romantic dramedy "Vishwanath and Sons" narrowly made it into the Top 10 with $1.6 million from 350 theaters.
