Jason Clarke ("Everest", "Murdaugh: Death in the Family") has joined the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax action thriller "Supermax". The film is directed by David Gordon Green ("Halloween" reboot sequel trilogy) from a script by David J. Rosen ("Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed") and David Weil ("Hunters", "Citadel").
The film stars Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb as two FBI agents who investigate a seemingly impossible murder within the impenetrable walls of a maximum-security prison. The cast also includes Jaafar Jackson ("Michael").
Smith also produces alongside Adam Fishach via Westbrook Studios, Andrew Rona & Alex Heineman for The Picture Company. Weil and Rosen executive produce alongside Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, President of Film Alexandra Loewy, COO Thom Zadra and SVP Spencer Ela, as well as James Lassiter and Miguel Melendez for Westbrook Studios, with Natalie Laine Williams serving as associate producer.
Amazon MGM Studios will handle worldwide distribution for the film, which will be available in more than 240 countries and territories on Prime Video.
Clarke is currently in talks to star in Michael Mann's "Heat 2". He also stars in the upcoming horror sequel "A Quiet Place 3", the Amazon MGM thriller "Ally Clark", the Taylor Sheridan-written crime action thriller "F.A.S.T.", and Tom McCarthy's "The Statement".
